Vintage Fender Coronado II Demo

Музыка

An odd duck in Fender’s history, let’s take a look at this 1966(ish) Fender Coronado II. A fun fact not covered in the video: the “Wildwood” finish that was available on these guitars was actually made by injecting dye into living trees as they grew years before harvesting, resulting in a light natural wood color with streaks of green or blue.

I have a Cherry red 1966 Coronado II w/ the checker binding and a matching red headstock. And holy F are they great sounding guitars. It sounds to me what a fully hollow Firebird would sound like. The pickups sound like a mix between a P-90 and a Firebird pickup. When you have one of these things plugged straight into a Princeton Reverb on 4.5 - that’s living lol

Thanks! They’re a very comfortable and comparatively affordable option for a vintage hollowbody.

Don't be so harsh on your guitar playing :) I much prefer it to the typical ego blues riffing you hear in most demos! Keep up the simple down to earth videos! They suit the gear well.

You’re very kind! I’m confident in my abilities to play rhythm and write what a song needs, it just doesn’t tend to be the show that most people put on in gear demos! Anything you’d particularly like to see in a video?

An f-hole sunburst archtop is def not what I would have expected to be a Fender production. Sounds great though. I think electric guitars start to lose their individuality the more the amp is turned up, and this sounded almost like an acoustic on the clean settings.

Well said! I really like clean settings to understand the character of one guitar vs. another.
