I agree with Vintage Velo when it comes to Colnago bikes. All the hand built steel frames of this era have their pros and cons but you can be sure that a Colnago will be quality. That’s just how it is.

Couple of things; That's Super Record specifically, as opposed to Nuovo Record, and the various tube shapes of Colnagos run to many more variants. The crimped tubes were on Mexico models and the Master had Gilco tubing which was different again.

I’m thoroughly enjoying your videos and bike feedback, thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍🏼 I’ve never been much of a Colnago fanboy but after recently doing a full restoration on a friends old Super, that perception has changed… a lot. They’re truly quality bikes and surprisingly light for the era they were built in 👍🏼

Oddly enough, it wasn`t until I had a good up close look at the Colnago that I started to appreciate the quality, very pleased it rode as good as it looks...

I'm going to look at one this weekend at an estate sale. It's in beautiful condition, and I'm hoping that the people at the sale won't know what they are looking at and I can scoop it up at a good price. Nothing rides like steel.

Colnago good of course but not THE benchmark ( there is not one) Gios, Mercks, Bianchi, Botechia, Moser, Olmo, Raleigh, Gazelle, Gitane, all make or made superbly handling bikes, the list could go on.

Your right, there are many bikes that compare, but Colnago Supers are pretty special. Here`s an example of what I was getting at - a friend asks for advice on which vintage bike they should buy - you say, maybe a Bianchi Specialisma, they are awesome - the friend shows up a few weeks time with a Japanese made Bianchi thats creaking a bit... If someone asked me what vintage race bike they should buy (and I get asked quite a lot), I could say Colnago Super with confidence (though its not my favourite...) and if they rocked up with an ally Colnago it would still be pretty cool...

I have one of those. Sorry to point out a mistake in your commentary - I think that bike is equipped with Super Record not Nuovo Record. You need to learn how to edit your videos too.

No offense, but as you were riding it was all you and zero Colnago.

A carbon fiber bike is like a late model car, they all look alike. Unless you get a frog looking Tesla.
