I make a ‘mock up’ of the bag in paper exact to measurements so I can physically see how big the bag is and what fits in. It’s saved me from making some expensive mistakes and helped in my decision-making. ♥️

I can in no way afford a Chanel bag and probably never will but I adore looking at and admiring them from afar and I loved watching this new video format. It’s the kind of questions you always have but never know who to ask. If I ever am in the position to buy a bag like the vintage chanels then I will definitely come back to this for reference! Xx

It's always fun to go for things that people don't usually look for. About 6 or 7 years ago I bought two 90s Chanel coats really cheap on eBay, no-one else was bidding at all, but the vintage little black jackets get into huge bidding wars. I've since had to invest a few hundred pounds taking the amazing camel wool coat to have the black plastic fabric panels (thanks 90s Karl) replaced by Chanel, with a nice wool, but it was worth it for a coat I will have forever! It was helpful to have a friend who was from a rather wealthy family who knew his grandmothers Chanel clothes like the back of his hand, it was at his recommendation that I bought the coats, and trained my eye for the genuine!

Perfect timing! I've been agonizing the past two weeks looking to purchase my first pre-loved designer bags so I was so excited to watch this. And my GOODNESS those bags are GORGEOUS!

Best video! I love vintage bags. I wanted a black lamb skin Chanel Waller on a chain,but the prices kept going up and up. I went randomly,one day to a nearby village to meet my husband, who rode his bike there, for coffee. I was a bit early so I thought I'll look round a few shops. I went to a little vintage shop. They had a beautiful biege patent lady Dior bag. On the counter, without a price tag was the bag....the black Chanel lamb skin wallet on a chain....I was so excited and prepared to pay up to £800 for it....I asked how much and it was £400!! I'm so happy with it and wear it quite a lot. The other bag wasn't for sale, but I found a similar one on Designer exchange website for a really good price too. I also go a Dior wallet. It had little d rings inside so I bought a little chain and wear that like a WOC too.

Chanel is my favourite brand, so classic, chic and timeless! I was gifted my first vintage Chanel bag 9 years ago when I was 26 and with practically daily use, it’s worn incredibly well. You really can feel the difference in quality by the weight, the feel of the leather and robustness of the bag. Fakes are much more plastic and flimsy. It’s my dream to gift my little baby niece my collection of vintage Chanel handbags when she’s older so I’ve been on the look out for places to purchase - I will be exploring all your recommendations - thank you, Fleur! I use my *preluxz* as a work bag and have had no issues at all. It’s a comfortable bag, fits a good amount and hadn’t lost its shape. With that being said, I also take care of all my bags and don’t carry a water bottle, pens, keys or anything that can damage the interior.

Your vintage pieces are gorgeous and you gave great tips-research is definitely key. I agree with you about those two online sites. I wouldn’t patronize Vesteaire; they’re just ridiculously expensive. The preloved market is so huge. I’ve only been interested in it in recent years, but I’ve found some wonderful people who also sell luxury items on line. Julia Rose Boston is one and she sells luxury handbags and other amazing items at affordable prices; her Chanel pieces are amazing and more modern than vintage. She is London and Boston based. My tip for anyone is no matter where you purchase, authenticate and make sure your purchase is protected no matter what.

Me too, I thought immediately about the stolen suitcase, I would be HEARTBROKEN if that happened to me because I tend to bring all my most favourite, top prized possessions on a trip. I find myself wondering about poor Fleur in the aftermath of having bet suitcase stolen. It occurred to be that poor Fleur got targeted by someone who knew her during the Dubai trip, or flew on same flight and knew her stuff is amazing to die for. Or it could have been a random employee who stole it, who knows.either way, it’s hugely upsetting, I’d be broken hearted. My heart goes out to Fleur

Her suitcase was stolen out of her vehicle I think not at the airport, while she was on her run with Mike back in England.

eBay is actually a great way to shop for vintage designer! Especially shopping from a trusted Japanese seller, as the laws on buying/selling counterfeit goods in Japan are VERY strict. You will save a tonne of money going this route rather than over paying from Vestiare/TRR etc.

great video! i also have to agree! vestiaire collective is a great shop if you are on the hunt for a vintage piece or if you are looking for a piece from a past collection you cant get anymore, i bought a lot there but i would never sell anything there cause i think they charge waaaaay to much for that!!! i dont see the point to sell a chanel bag there for 1300 and i would just get 975. thats a bit extreme for me cause the only thing they do is just giving a plattform to sell and authenticate, i dont think its fair to charge that much however-i bought a vintage chanel belt bag in nightblue with gold hardwear today 😍 cant wait to receive it 😍

Don't forget about the potential massive import charges when purchasing a bag from abroad - I believe UK import tax is around 40% for clothing, bags, etc. Not such a great deal when you have a bill for a few hundred £ arrive on top of the purchase.

I agree with Fleur. I collect vintage Armani and have found The Real Real a great source. Everything is authenticated, everything is in top notch quality, and everything is carefully packaged for shipment. I, also, do the two day shipment option, even though I live in the US. I have found perfectly preserved pieces from the early 1980s as well as pieces from a year ago, still with the original tag on them. I can’t recommend this company highly enough.

The Real Real is great. I purchased gorgeous designer shoes from there, probably way too many lol. I have two prized pairs of Brian Atwood heels that were about $100 a piece and in mint condition. I broke two feet last year so I can't wear them anymore but they make a nice accent to my vanity lol. Overall though, great site, great customer service.
