Man, that Winternationals track looks awesome. 90s tracks were probably the best in terms of variety , jumps and awesomeness.

This threw me back into the days. I remember being in 6th grade or so, and going to the school library and checking out the new SNAP and BMX Plus mags every month. When I was 12 (1998) I started racing on my Dyno VFR. I miss it

9:32 Mike King was really skilled rider. He was the type that would have done great on today's tracks. Great BMX and MTB racer. He made good money during those times along with Brian Lopes....that dude make a LOT of MTB money. And both were the first to use clipless pedals in BMX.

Charles Townsend was a pro counselor in 1989 when I went to Woodward in Pennsylvania. I just remember getting there and the track was huge but they hadn't done any maintenance on it since the Nationals was all tried out. I was 14 years old and the first time Charles wanted a show us how to do something he looked at everyone's bikes He saw mine he said you got a limo can I use yours and of course I gave it to him.

@@darrenporsch you know that a lot of pros actually use that frame. They just put the stickers of the company they were racing for all over it so people wouldn't know lol. I read about it and heard it in a bunch of podcasts. Oh I know what you mean by the way a buddy of mine jumped on my bike one time when we were at our local jumping area. And I was like I did not realize my bike can go that high LOL

Hi Danny. What age would you be? I'm 55 and I have to say you've bought back some memories of what I think was the most fun time of my life. I was fortunate to grow up in what I consider the golden age of BMX. From the start of the 80's till the early 90's. The sport was just so exciting back then. The colour, the dirt race tracks, the whole learning process of racing, jumping, and friends who I still catch up with till this day. When all you wanted to do was ride from sun up till sun down. I'm from Australia by the way, and the fact that you can interact nowadays with whom you considered your hero's via channels such as yours is truly amazing.

Hi Steve, I'm 53. I agree with you the 80s and 90s was an amazing time for BMX. I was reading about BMX around 80-81 and actually began racing in 82. Most of my childhood was surrounded by being on a BMX bike. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!!

From my experience in the '80s, 90s and 00s, around '97-2000 was the second coming of BMX. The '80s peaked around '84, being the first coming and golden age. '98 saw big money again and the skill level went through the roof (due to tracks becoming much more technical, but also trail jumping evolved to multiple sets). Currently the skill level is much higher, but the money hasn't kept up.
