    This is a prelude to Accuphase....Kensonic. Im guessing this is a much underated amp. I have one. There was no skimping here. When you look at the L 07M mono blocks that came later and then check out an Accuphase E202 you can see this amps influence on something considered way more high end. Im no engineer but i have half an idea what im looking at.

    I am not familiar with the amps you mentioned, but the older Kenwood gear seems to be popular with people wanting vintage audio gear. Some folks think they were not built well, but the ones I have looked at seem to be of decent quality. I have a review coming up on an older Kenwood integrated amp in the future. Thanks for commenting.

    I’m 7 minutes in and fixed so much on my set up. Including the phono sensitivity. Which it was in the wrong position. I have an Ortofon Stylus 30 on an OM 30 Cartridge. Which I believe is a moving coil? It was on the 0.5 ohms instead of 0.05 ohms? Big difference right there. This lead me into a rabbit hole where I realized I had my Design Acoustics PS-10a have a - 3 db switch for small rooms. I switched it to flat. Much better. Thank you for improving my enjoyment of my equipment.

    I hope it is still working well for you! I am trying to convince the owner to hook it up to his Altec Voice of the Theater speakers- I think it would be a great match.

    I have one of this Amplifier which I bought from a former colleague who went back to Switzerland in 1983, however I would have liked if it can be possible to have the Circuit diagrams so that I can be able to solve some of the problems as has been explained

    I live in Tucson, but unless you live nearby, I am not really taking repair jobs due to the cost of shipping. Thanks for your comment!

    Some Yamaha integrated amps had separate tone defeat switches.

    Thanks for the Comment, Kyle! I have not worked on a Yamaha integrated amp in a while so that is good to know. I worked on a Harmon Kardon 570i receiver today and it had a tone bypass control too.

    I also have a KA-6000 integrated amplifier that I have had from my High School years. it also has the same issue as one side is louder than the other. I live in the Tempe area. I assume you live in the phx area? if so, roughly how much it would it be to get it back into shape if your willing to take on another project? Thanks in advance..

    I am flattered! I live in Tucson, actually. I would be willing to take on another project once I get caught up with some other amplifiers that are ahead of it. If indeed it were "just" replacing the caps that should be replaced it is not too bad a job, but you could also have them all done if you really wanted too. Since I'm retired and do this for fun (does not always work out that way :) ) I don't need to charge a lot. I will be up in Phx the end of September..Thanks for subscribing!

    @@vintageaudioreview I have been requesting my amp get worked on as a Christmas gift for the past 5 or 6 years now to my wife. it hasn't happened yet. ha This amp is super important to me. I loved your video and watch these kind of repair videos often. pls pls let me know when you come down this way and we can take it from there. I also have a Teac reel to reel that needs work. everything seems to work mechanically at least the last time I turned it on. I think it just needs a good tune up and everything adjusted

    @@drumdr64 I will put my contact email int the about section shortly, but will remove it once you email me with your contact info. I have to decline on the reel to reel- if it works use it! Funny, I had the opportunity to purchase a mint Teac X10R just yesterday for a great price but declined- no good place to put it.

    What purpose do the jumpers serve? Does it matter that mine are just bare copper?

  • @vintageaudioreview

    @vintageaudioreview

    8 ай бұрын

    The jumpers connect the preamp out to the main amp in and if they are bare copper my only concern would be corrosion- you can pull them out on use something like scotchbrite on them if there is. Thanks for the question

    Tbh, I never liked amps/receivers from the 70's (and I've had a few) because of the odd bass response. It sounds loose and boomy, regardless of speakers or listening room. Starting in the mid 80's is when they got bass right; tight and well damped

    Thanks for taking the time to reply! A good friend of mine was just talking about this with me in regards to the project/one intg amp, and how there may have been something to matching certain vintage amps/receivers to speakers- like a receiver with more bass to a speaker lacking in bass. Also, this amp may have benefitted by a full recap to power amp section.....
