Vintage (80's and 90's) Fireworks Collection Part 1

Ойын-сауық

Showing off my modest collection of consumer fireworks, some of which date back to the mid nineteen-eighties. Feel free to comment if you have seen some of the older stuff in this video, or remember an uncommon item from the 80's.

    Thanks for showing us your wonderful collection! The oldest rockets I remember, from late 70s, is Sky Monkeys. Their report was a bunch of trailing sparkles that swirled around. Loved them! The "Two Colored Spaceships," known originally as "Silver Jets" when there was only one type in the late 70s & early 80s _are_ important! They were then the only flying spinner next to Artificial Satellites. They were loud and threw out GIANT curtains of sparks! They were a favorite of many back then! Now they are physically smaller and don't have nearly as large of a curtain & noise.

    Oh man, some gems in there! Those Fierce Tiger Soaring rockets were my favorite! Ridiculously loud screech to a nice color display. The Fire Fox's were great, too- and ended with 2 or 3 reports. WHY won't they make good rockets like that any more??? Some of my other favorites were from Tigerhead. The 2oz Emerald Meteors; Moon with Silvery Brightness; and Pearls rockets. They came in either a 6 pack, or a 6 pc assorted pack with 2 of each. Rather good display for a tiny rocket- and they were great flyers, too. The same store sold an assortment of TigerHead rockets with all different sizes. Loved it, and bought several each year. My favorites were Fairy Rain with white palm type stars, and Green, which, like wild Geese had a whistler in the burst. All of them had a green flame at the rocket nozzle. We also had Report Good, which had BLUE stars w/crackle. (blue was very rare then) Snow and Red Plum; Clustering Bees- that actually did something cool; Glitterous Lights- with plenty of glitter in them; And Fire Phoenix from Brothers- which had a silver exhaust and a big loud break. From Link Triad, there were Zhou Si- 6 different assorted breaks w/silver tail. Huge, LOUD breaks; and Rattlesnake- which coupled the eardrum shredding screech of the Fierce Tiger with the loud breaks of the Zhou-Si. And, of course, the original Horse brand 1 1/2" Ball Style rockets. Plastic ball headers with some pretty good breaks. Also, the original Black Cat 8 oz rockets. Good flyers, with nice effects. We all hoped to get 8 oz rockets that performed like them, but alas, most were cheap junk... The original Westlake and Westlake Jumbos were great, too.

    Ah yeah, I remember a lot of that stuff like the snow and red plum, and fire pheonix was one of the first of the really good shell-type display large rockets - "Fire Birds" were even better. I remember each of the black cat 8oz rockets had a different effect such as "magic rain", "carnival", "black dragon" etc.

    What would be the likelyhood of the 80s fireworks going off in your collection ? would they ignite ?

  • @PhillyPyroKev
    @PhillyPyroKev Жыл бұрын

    Just a heads up, a lot of what you were saying were from the 80s were definitely not from the 80s because they had the UN0336 coding on them. Anything 1994 and after had the UN0336 and were class 7. Any fireworks pre 1994 would have DOT Class C on them. You do have a lot of stuff from the late 90s and 2000s but most was UN0336. I also collect and get a lot of shit from a few other collectors for collecting class 7 items but even stuff from 94 to 2000 is nostalgic to me. 🤘🏻

    You can find some at pyro conventions, although I haven't ever been to one. I had bad luck with the westlake rockets in the 1990s, so I avoided them.

    @@SixStringSeme Yeah, by the mid to late 90's, the Westlakes were cheap, watered down crap. Like the factory didn't care anymore, and was just going through the motions... (plus, importers were no doubt haggling for the cheapest possible price- which never helps. You get what you pay for.)

    I have vintage late 70s early 80s, crimped, DOT Red lantern i'm willing to let a couple bricks go if you're interested. They're better than Jumping Jacks becuse these spin all over and some take off and fly down the street! Baby magic Bloom bricks. Also a Couple others i'd be willing to let go. Everything I have is Class 5 DOT, That's all I collect. But i'm letting some stuff go so I can pay some bills. I found the babys at a old Fireworks store years ago and bought the whole supply. Was there recently and all the stuff now is new clay garbage. These bricks sell in the range of 60-100 a brick. I have a Daisy Animal brick that sells for 200-300 a brick, more rare than old Babys. My super rare stuff I won't let go like Peacocks, Link Triads, ICC Ducks, etc but my other stuff isn't extremely rare i'll let some go. I'm no scammer, no cop. I've been into Pyrobilia for years. I just made a vid but having problems getting it up. It's title is antique firecrackers. You should see it soon. Well if you want to expand your collection or ur buddys i'm Pyro kar ken, my email is karken@wowway.com let me know. Take care, oh and yes I'm posting these on a couple others too, got to sell. Happy collecting, give me a mail if interested. Ken.
