Vintage 4x4 Expedition - 2023
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Vintage 4x4 Expedition is an annual event hosted by brothers Ryan and David Shelley in Somerset, California. This multi-day event allows vintage off-road enthusiasts to put hundreds of trail miles on their pre-1975 vehicles. It started over twenty years ago with a few friends over winter break and now attracts over fifty eccentric individuals.

So much cooler than ripping around in a financed side by side blasting music no one else in the area wants to hear. Cool event!

That Valiant is certainly unique.

Watching from Australia. We never got the wagons here so there's always been a bit of thing about them here with early Valiant fans. I believe they're rare as hens teeth now in the states, but to see one converted to 4wd is unreal.
History cannot be erased. We have a 58 Willys. Classics rule. Take care.
Awesome. A fantastic example of what it's all about to be a Vintage Jeep owner, or other Vintage 4x4... GODSPEED folks....
75 and older is vintage???? Thanks a lot! From a vintage guy😅
That green CJ5 at minute 2:27 looks exactly like the one my husbands father had years ago! Same color, same winch, roll bar. Very cool. Father is passed away now. If that was the one he had, he would be proud to know it is still wheeling.
I love this. Great watch, thank you for sharing!
Love that this came up on my recommendations. I watched 2020 too. Keep these events coming!
When I lived in Montana I had a 1970 Jeepster Commando it had a Buick V6. That was probably the best 4 by 4 I ever owned, the only issue was is the body ground clearance hit a lot of rocks underneath the doors when going over stuff. I never could afford to lift it.
Looks like a blast!
New zealand plated land rover...... nice!

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Would love to know the story!
"It's not an adventure until things go sideways." Well said sir. When we talk about trips like this, the things we remember most are the things that didn't go as planned. That's living!
Looks like a great time. If I wasn't in GA, I'd be there every year! Nice to see some Full Size Jeeps.
Vary cool! I love old stuff!
I love watching those non-lockers! Very vintage.
Lodi, CA viewer here with classic Bronco. This looks awesome!!
Good video, looks like a great time. Hope to make it someday.
This is awesome. I’m glad to see the early CJ5’s slowly become popular just as the old CJ2A, 3A and 3B have been for some time now. I own a ‘55 CJ5 and got it for a great price a few years back (2018)….got it for $1400 and it’s solid, all original no rust. Great little Willys. I also own a 1952 Dodge M37 that sadly I’ve decided I have to sell. My wife is about to retire from the military and we are currently in Utah. We just bought a home back in our hometown and with me owning the M37, the Willys, two 2004 Mach 1’s, a ‘17 Power Wagon….and the wife owning her Ford Edge we just have too many vehicles to ship back home to PA (it’s a long distance!). The Mach 1’s (and the Power Wagon) will be going back with me this coming summer….and the Willys will be shipped closer to when the wife retires (summer of ‘25….yes, I’m leaving a year early to set the house and property up while it’s mostly empty)…..so sadly the M37 has been decided to be the one to sell. I know this is besides the point, but nobody ever accused me of not being thorough 😂
Greta stuff! Make more videos :)
retro jeeps - awesome
How good! Aesthetic bliss. Just gotta get rid of those few LED headlights and late model cars that are ruining my immersion. Overall what a gorgeous group of cars in a super nice setting. Wish I was there.
Smiles per mile
Nice vehicles, nice outing... 🇿🇦
Parents were part of a 4x4 club in Tri-Cities, Wa when I was a kid. The rigs looked pretty close to what I see here. A few more 70s model Broncos and Blazers. Looks fun👍🇺🇸
Didn’t see any Real Early Scouts ? Didn’t see hardly any early Land cruisers either! Or early Broncos!!!! Those Rigs are worth huge bucks these days! I had a 61’ scout I used to take up into that area back in mid -late 70s. A Bronco club with a dozen rigs tried following a snowed in road I blazed in my scout- the couple lead broncos got stuck in my tracks. I pulled them out with my 61’ scout! My rig for last 25 years- a 1982’ Toyota 4x4 long bed. I guess that’s not old enough for your Clan. Cool video. Enjoyed watching 👍

Greed kills the sport. These rigs were working class prices in the 20th century. Now the college folks wanna collect & worship their missing masculinity. 🙄
That’s awesome. If there was something like that in AZ I would go.
Great video as always!
Vey cool. I love wheeling old iron.
In Anchorage I had a FJ40, but sold it when the Suzuki Samurai became available there. It was lightweight, high ground clearance, 4wd, narrow and great mpg. (My Landcruiser tank got a whopping 8 mpg regardless of swapping out the intake manifold and it weighed a ton)
This is terrific.
Great event
I've owned 2 flat fender Jeeps, an early 70's CJ5 and early 70's wagoneer that was converted to a pickup. All of them left me stuck or stranded 😂 BUT none of them left me without a great story to tell!
I wish we had something like this in Maine 😢
Beautiful
Interesting watch
I had a 46 Willys Jeep… But watching these guys with no rollbars is scary lol
They say there still holding coffee mugs to this day
I gotta get in on this!
That ole power wagon gets them pulled out with little effort.
🔥🔥🔥
We do that kind of driving (and rougher) with Model T's. That looks like a really fun group. Would the T's be welcome? I didn't see anything that with chains on that we would have any problem with.

Model T’s are certainly welcome. We have had Model A’s in the past. We only go a fast as the slowest vehicle
👍👍
Wow im impressed ! i am told on the internet you need a 65,000 dollar new bronco to do what i see Hmmm
Does anyone know what happened to the channel that used to post videos of classic 1970s Cadillacs driving in the snow and a little bit of train content too? I think the channel was called Acme or something like that? I usually watch those videos every year around Christmas but I can't find them now!
I see a few...newer than 75 rigs🤔🤔🤔
More videos please. Good content. Maybe deeper into each vehicle? What truck is that @ 4:30 minutes
Are you going to do a video for 2024? (if so, reach out!)
Where do we find out the details of the event each year?
I love seeing the variety of trucks here, especially the Land Rovers. How do we apply for a chance at participating in this? I have a 1960 Land Rover Series II 88.

Interested as well. My SII 88 is a '61 powered by a Ford Transit 2.5 turbo diesel. Currently rewiring it and if this event takes place next month, I doubt I could make it this year.
