The moment you used that box end wrench to tighten the valve and the wrench touched the threads I cried. That needed some type of protection to not damage the threads

I noticed that too. Looks like they got kinda boogered. 🤔

Same, I cringed so hard…
Just bought one an A47 model 530. Check valve was frozen, but got it working. Think it’s my favorite stove so far.
I got one of these but a GI stove that's painted. In very good condition and includes the repair kit. Someday I'll have to do a full cleaning. Thanks for the video!
If you clean the jet at the end of the Generator it will help with lighting and burning better great video
just got this stove, great teardown video, thanks!
Thanks, now I have to get my 530 from 1947 running,
I enjoyed watching the show
Always like using old school. Remember fishing and camping with grandpa
I have one of these that was either my grandfathers or dads. Also a 220B lantern i had found. The pocket stove was working good for a while but if i recall has a leak somewhere. I should go through it and see if i can get it running because i want to add a ss mesh screen mantle and use it as an radiant heater.
Always like going back to rebuild videos... gets me running out to the shop to get my stoves and lanterns up and running good for upcoming camping and bushcrafting. Great video
Thanks Doc!
Looks great! A good number of moving parts but you got it cleaned up really nicely. These stoves are just cool.
In general after full clean up is need some time to light up because it needs to consume all the cleaning agents still in the stove...
I like it . Nostalgia buff I guess
Great information. Thank you.
Cool restoration.
Inspired me to repair my 123 or 124r. Have a kit but need to make wick outta a mop strand.. Enjoyed video!
the generator is that brass tube under the burner... preheat that with your torch, then light it.
guess I'll be doing mine soon, now, too....
I use my 530 quite often so added a preheat cup to warm the generator. Less dramatic but very short time with a little DNA and away she goes. Great solid built stove and with a little practice and a 'simmer' plate can do pretty well frying bacon and eggs too. Love my 530. :)

@@HiddeneyeInc Preheat cup from Coleman lantern 237 works. Try Old Coleman Parts.
I’ve got one of these I need to do. Thanks
Forgot to add that I built a stand to stabilize the small base a bit and I like the fairly long run time of these stoves.
I would love to have one of these stoves but right now they only place I can find Them is on eBay but I'll tell you the competition for decent stove is fierce I'll get 1 one dsy
Nice video Dr. Ernie! I just bought one of these Coleman 530 stoves. I'll be inspecting it, disassembling it, cleaning it, reassembling it, and testing it very soon. I already know before any cleaning has commenced that the round knob won't turn nor will the needle cleaner metal piece thing. They are stuck frozen and won't move. Got any clues for me on how to get them moving again? WD40? Rust Blaster? Heat it up with a torch? 3 in 1 oil? Electrolosis with a sacrificial metal anode rod? What would you do if you were in this situation? Please advise me. Thanks Dr. Ernie. Hope to hear back from you soon.
Please share the size for the gas cap gasket; thanks
Can you leave a link to the exact check valve removal tool you have? The one I have isn’t working on my 530. Thanks.
I think your eccentric block is not assembled properly.
