    You can tell by the recording of the guitars that those amplifiers were freakin’ CRANKED TO 10! I would have loved to be in that studio as he was laying down the guitar tracks. I’m sure I’d have permanent hearing loss.

    if i remember right the album sleeve of Invasion said something like this album is meant to be played at maximum volume or some thing like that. And yeah VV on these album sounded like he had his amps all the way up too. I never cared for his tone on these, i think they could have sounded better. But. when he left Kiss, it's like I'm gonna play as loud and fast as possible whether the song needs it or not..

    Vinnie was always one of my very favourite guitarists in the 80s (massively criminally underrated imho) - and precisely because of his totally OTT playing! I’ve been listening to him a lot recently again (it’s now 2022) and I love it more than ever: completely masturbatory ultra-widdle, and it’s fantastic! No one else like him, ever, & I love that. Never heard this unreleased album before - his playing on here is f**king fantastic! Thank you so much for posting! 🤘🤘🤘

    Vinnie was never Included with all the other 80's shredders only because of his being part of Kiss & Kiss never got respect as musicians. Vinnie is on the same level playing wise with Vai, Mcalpine, Moore, Satriani & Malmstine. And a better song writer too, IF he just knew when to say when with the guitar solos in his songs!!!

    Damn right, he never had a sense of what to play and in which moment he had to play... like Paul said in his book his guitar style was like vomiting, and he always wanted to showcase himself playing long epic solos

    These Solos seem more refined and better placed than invasion , I can hear the rehearsals with kiss and writing sessions Vinnie : ok now I bust into my ear shredding solo Right ? Kiss : uh no Vinnie how about a chorus instead lol .....like on lick it up ....no solo it's a melody / chorus in the middle .

    Totally agree with your comment, VV writing skills were so ahead of the competition. Regular "Ashes To Ashes" is a great example, full of riffs in different keys that connect perfectly. I find his soloing a bit silly for the most of the part, but you can tell he was searching for his style; I don't think it would have been any problem for him to emulate your average pentatonic - van halen-ish solos that were typical from that era.

    Can you imagine how much better of an album All Systems Go would have been with Fleischman on vocals?

  • @bradford_shaun_murray

    @bradford_shaun_murray

    ...Fleischman is an animal on vocals, it would of had a bit more aggression in the vocal tone than Mark Slaughter (even though the two singers have a similar range). But thing is Vinnie said in an interview with Mike Brunn that for All Systems Go the record company took away the heavy guitar tone that the first album had and wanted a softer sound overall for All Systems Go - which he didn't really want but just went with it. I like the guitar sound on the first album more than the second, though cool songs on All Systems like Ashes to Ashes, Dirty Rhythm, Love Kills, and That Time of Year sound pretty cool as well.

    Breakout is pretty underrated. If I had a nickel for every former kiss lead guitarist that formed a band with their name in it and released a song called "breakout", I'd have two nickels. It isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice.

    26:48 Those 'off note' changes within the harmony lines are jazz like in Full Shredd - the unexpected moody dissonance against where you would normally expect some progressions to go is very cool and individual. I don't care what people say about Vinnie, the guy was a very talented and creative song writer.

    This was a long time ago the record company didn't want to release it because all the grunge music coming in they said it was overkill on the guitar the singing was too high just a sad time it was released two years earlier in 1988 it would have actually been released and probably promoted Vinny is the best songwriter I've never known he can play jazz all day long and you want to know it was him until you saw his face playing it everything he does is jazz it's just incredibly fast I hope it gets released it'd be nice to hear the tracks remastered at least

    Vinnie was so talented, but he needed people like Paul and Gene to help him focus. The Creatures and Lick It Up was his best work because he wasn't allowed to just go crazy with the guitar work. He was forced to be a team/group player, which he obviously wasn't. Plus, Robert's vocals were just too high pitched.
