In my personal opinion this is what true mastery of an instrument looks like. Not just Vinnie although Vinnie is the GOAT, everyone in this recording has the most incredible sound. That can only be achieved through a lifetime of playing. Such an inspiration.

The primary groove he is playing is pretty much a purdie shuffle on high hat. He then goes into offbeat quarter note triplets in the high hat while keeping a strong beat three in the left hand then switching to playing the high hat on the second triplet partial of a eighth note triplet before playing the full band hit on beats three and four (maybe 1 and 2) with his left hand

Nice play by play narration! Lol It's just impressive that he doesn't throw anyone else in the band off. Everyone has such a great pocket. Masterful playing and masterful understanding of subdivisions

Agree with Piece Of Mind and British Steel. My own picks would be Rust In Peace, South Of Heaven, Seven Churches, Heartwork, Slaughter Of The Soul, Domination, Once Upon The Cross. I like them enough, but still don't get the status they enjoy (taste or the lack of it probably has everything to do with it).

A little "hibidihop skip!" Going on here, and it takes a long time to learn a time signature beat like that, and a drummer can say this and understandand this musical move rhythm. 🥁😊👊
