I'm religious and if you know anything about Vinnie he is religious too. Great drummer but cut out the god label. That's over the top and if you are atheist, which I can safely assume your are, you have no reason to explain god status in anyone when you don't believe in the concept anyways. Vinnie is a great drummer. Thank god he's around. What say you?

@@tionunez1854 haha, fair enough. You make a strong case for yourself in that perhaps I engaged too literally. I love drumming and I think as much as you and so I concede to your views insofar as they are expressed as light yet passionate expressions of one's own preferences. But I do still warn against demigodery! Why still? Because holding one inspirational example for oneself can risk creating a musical monopoly in that particular mind. Vinnie is outstanding but the god concept infers monodio principles. I think even you would concede that your use of the term god is loose especially if implies one above the rest. Us humans are born equal and my point here even allows for you to consider yourself a worthy musical drummer, even within your drumming religion. Drumming is my passion but not religion. Ok, we differ there a slight. But I can bet safely you too play great and is worthy of praise when you play for a certain public. God status of hero drummers then is expressed celebration of their art and example, but anything more literal than that undermines both the fan and all others surrounding. I'm short, I'm saying give enough space for yourself too. Who else will keep you on the set otherwise outside of Colaiuta

Prime Vinnie looks like this i guess. The bassist is just like "we are going into new territory here" . The displacements in the groove is very refreshing. Virgil must have been very influenced by this. And i can see a lot of Vinnie in Garstka as well.

yeah! Spaceships! That's the first song that I heard that got me hooked on Vinnie. It's still my most favorite Vinnie performance ever. I heard that and Sting's Ten Summoner's Tales album on the same day. Back then, I was in awe that it was the same guy that played on that John patitucci track and Sting's album. Since then I tried to get my hands on any album w/ Vinnie's name on it..hahaha
