kanji is my worst nightmare, the only reason i even know any at all is through osmosis (as Joel puts it) through Danbooru translators, friends studying Chinese in college, and Chinese assholes on various MMOs - i'm just really glad Japanese isn't a tonal language like Chinese is. kanji dictionaries and having Japanese IME enabled on Windows really help when learning kanji. if it makes you feel any better Joel, native Japanese speakers never stop learning kanji even up to 12th grade, and even then there's adults that still aren't as good at kanji as they would like. i've seen a handful of anime voice actors on live action shows have iffy kanji at times.

I love the fact that Joel is a proper Fist of the North Star fan, but he seems to have a slight case of dementia whenever he tries to recall anything from it, he forgot Shin's name in a long time ago stream, kept calling Raoh by his tyrant name Ken-Oh (technically right but still not his actual name) and in this stream remembers Rei's last moments completely wrong.

Should be renamed "Swedish man has massive orgasm while screaming 'ATATATTATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA!'"

Man, I SO desperately want this to come to be localized! Even if it doesn't make it to the US, as long as there's an English translation out there, I'll find a way to play it. I mean. Just look at Tingle game 1. Released in Europe, not the US, I managed to play it.

Favourite emotional death scenes? Souther, Raoh, Kaioh/Hyoh, Shin, Toki...easily one of, if not the best parts of the series.

By the end of this stream, my ovaries imploded...You could say they were already dead.

I'm not excited for this game as a Yakuza fan, I'm not even excited for this game as a FotNS fan. I'm excited as a Joel fan, because you can just tell he is going to have the time of his life with this game. Can't wait and god help us all if there is no english translation.

I really hope you stream this game in full when if it comes to the west. As someone who has never read/watched any FOTNS I really enjoyed watching this. The only parts that were painful were when you tried explaining the Japanese language because my leezard brain gets confused by other languages easy haha

I started watching FoTNS after this stream, and Joel was right I was hooked after the first episode

59:49 I've never got that argument. It's not only stupid, it's self destructive. I mean, say I've never heard about Fist of the North Star (I have, and it's my favourite anime), but Joel mentions it and I say "That sounds interesting, I will watch it" and five minutes later Joel spoils the entire series because "It's so old you could've watched it by now" and ruins a series for me that he previously tried to get me into. I mean, if I could've watched an old series I would've. That's the thing, I probably COULDN'T watch it. Either because I did not know about it and had no one who could tell me about it, or because I actually had no way of watching it.

Justin Urhead I don't think people should be forbidden to talk about stories in public, I'm mostly confused at the fact that Joel would tell people in chat how great HnK is, try to convert them to watch it, but then rattles off all of the story beats. To be fair, I do that as well, but to react to people who now, thanks to him, want to watch it, and are therefore scared of spoilers, with a “Well, it's kind of your fault for getting spoiled“ seems very counter productive.

(Yakuza Kiwami 2 also came out, but then again "burned out on Yakuza")
