Vincent Sherman! What a great part of Hollywood history!

I will give it to him...despite his constant interruptions, he left us a with a treasure trove of fascinating insights.

Alan, thanks for posting~! Your channel continues to be a treasure trove for those of us who love classic movies, and the stars of the golden age. I've been working my way through the Skip Lowe interviews the last couple of years and it's amazing the volume of famous golden age stars he was able to interview.

It's too bad this interview is so short. Maybe if it were three hours long we could get a complete thought out of the great Mr. Sherman.

Vincent Sherman even directed some “Waltons” episodes!!🙌🏾

We're lucky that Skip interviewed such an amazing array of people ... this is a treasure. Yeah, he was odd, but I think the guests knew that going into the interview. His interviews were broadcast over public-access cable television. He did thousands of interviews. Funny guy.

I love these classic interviews. Thank you for sharing.

This guy's a great interviewer. He's respectful and shows great interest. He asks great questions too.

Yeah, but most find that he was just an old gay troll who interrupted and annoyed his guests. On the contrary, he was everything you referenced and more. These interviews are gold

Vincent Sherman's memoir Studio Affairs-My Life as a Film Director, lets him speak without interruption. I knew him towards the end of his life. Always a sexy gentle man.

You cut it off right when Mr. Sherman was about to tell a story about Casablanca. What? Why? And I haven't found the 2nd part, if you had one. I wanted to hear MORE from him! He's very cogent and so lovely.

When the cameras on skippy all I see is Marty short . Martin short nailed that impression I never heard of this guy before. He’s hilarious

The host let Vincent Sherman talk about everything he asked him' it was the best interview i have seen' pity a lot more hosts didn't watch this as they would have learned how to do it properly :)

Every time I see this guy I can’t help but imagine Marty Short as Jiminy Glick

"Marion" Hopkins. I couldn't figure out what was getting under my skin until I realized how stupid Skip Lowe was. What a goober! Mr. Sherman even said her name for Pete's sake!!!!!

Vincent Sherman had to have the patience of a Saint to have directed a film with Joan Crawford and Bette Davis .

Absolute nonsense. Interviewers need to keep things moving based on how much time is allotted, questions they want to cover, otherwise, they'll just go and on

"If you can change one thing about your life Mr Sherman, what would it be" Answer. SITTING DOWN DOING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU.

Never speak ill of the dead. Only say good things. Skip is dead. GoodThis interview was like speed dating. It was all over the place. Like grabbing a beautiful vase and smashing it to a hundred pieces and staring at the pile and trying to image how it looked like.

Alex LUCAS oh definitely borrowed it from Bette. I heard it way before the series. There’s a book called “ the divine feud “ about their shenanigans. No one can top that clap back lol

Skip had a good heart.

I disagree with some of these comments criticizing Skip Lowe. I think he was wonderful . He always seemed genuinely interested. Love his facial expressions. Just a really nice guy that brought a special charm to each interview. Thanks for uploading these magnificent priceless interviews.

How honest of you to go against the tide here and defend Skip E. Lowe's cable television show. And let's face it, not every TV interviewer may be a great one, nor even the so-called great ones perhaps as great as legend would have them. They all interrupt at times, and many are in love with the sound of their own voices--certainly Dick Cavett and Charlie Rose are. But a few qualities are important for a successful interview of any kind--that the interviewer ask insightful and interesting, possibly unique questions, as well make a very good attempt to allow the subject to complete her/his thought after a question is asked; also that the interviewer speak clearly and with enunciation, so he/she maybe heard by the listening-viewing audience, if it be a broadcast interview. Also, I think it is a shame that there are few local broadcast TV talk shows left. Of course with the Internet anyone may upload a program to KZread, etc. But this is not the same as having a broadcast TV talk show, most of which are distributed by a network or in syndication nationally./internationally. There are very few broadcast TV talk shows of a local nature anymore. Technically, even Skip E. Lowe's show was not a broadcast, but a cable TV access show.

This guy is the worst interviewer ever!!!! He talks over his guest before the man can answer the question, he's horrible!!!!

Very frustrating interview. I could have listened to mr Sherman for hours. Fascinating. I loved the movies of the 30’s and 40’s. Too bad he could not finish a story. Horrible interviewer. Will have to buy his book. To have all those women from that time period. Wow. One more beautiful and talented than the next. Only in my dreams. Lucky man.

that interviewer was crap... he asks a question... he interrupts.... and he cuts off the guest. Sherman didn't get to finish his story about bette davis....

If you"ve got a good interview, going places with a lot of information and experiences...do a two parter, stop over talking him and cutting him off. Geez!

Bette invited Sherman to meet her in Mexico. He told her he would, then he stood her up. That was the end of it. Sherman was married, and he didn't want to become involved with her. So no they did not date, it was just one of the many who did not reciprocate Davis' feelings in return

Host Skip is unbearable. But the guest is wonderful. Pity the show is just 30 minutes. It should have been an hour.

Awful interviewer, very frustrating to follow.

I wonder if it would be possible to edit this to eliminate as much of Mr. Lowe as possible.

I hate Skip but he has great guests!

Learnt nothing about Sherman's craft. Interviewer only wanted to hear about Sherman's affairs, and then only with those ladies he, the interviewer, himself fancied. Tries to cover up this shallow, self-delighting interest by plugging Sherman a few times for chronological details, feigning an interest in Sherman's profession itself

He asked the questions but he didn't want the answers. The interview was for him not the viewing public. Wasted interview.

Notice: Most if not all producers, writers, movie stars, etc are Jewish! Hmmmmmm

I've never seen a more clueless and annoying interviewer. He seemed more interested in proving his own scholarship (half of which is incomplete or flat-out wrong) of his subject then just letting the man speak!

That interviewer is terrible!!! He interrupts and takes up too much of the time making gratuitous comments. He should have let Sharman talk.....

HE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST INTERVIEWER EVER!!!!!! He jumps all over the place, asks questions and doesn’t wait to the end of the answer before talking over them. He goes from one subject to another with no discernible through line ...just dreadful!! He’ s annoying me so much in fact that I even watch any more of this trash!! Such a shame as Vincent Sherman was fascinating...
