A guy in NZ 🇳🇿 in the early 70s set a world record for a lightly modified bike a Vincent Black Shadow did 179mph on the longest road in the South Island. Then 15 more or so years later a Japanese bike broke his record so he wheeled his Vincent out & worked on it done few more mods went back to the same road & did 3 runs 2 of which were 181mph a world record on a public road on a lightly modified bike class which still stands to this day as far as I know.

An excellent, relaxing video, it would have been nice to see a bit more of both sides of your bike, it looks very nice from the limited view we have of it. Thanks for positing this !

The black enamel finish engine cases and the 150 MPH speedo make me think your bike is a Black Shadow, not a Rapide...

Listen to the commentary - at 6:05 he says that the bike was modified to Lightning spec at Harpers in the late '50s. If as he says, those are Lightning wheels, I hope he removes the magnesium brake plates - they are prone to corrosion-fracture

If so EASY to change the 2nd large sprocket, when do you run a sidecar, to get less , effort,...what about the chain?? or you run with an elastic chain?.....

Beautiful bike. They really don't make them like this anymore. Has anyone seen the "new "...Brough Superior...like I say...

I always lusted after these bikes but settled for the next best thing; The Moto Guzzi LM. I heard a story that they went broke when Argentina`s government failed to pay for 100 police spec machines. idk.

Great little history of the Vincent twins. Who is this Wasted Spark motorcycle guy in Vermont?

I bought a Vincent V twin back in late sixties for next to nothing. It was V rough. Ran it till it nearly killed me and sold it for £50 . Not a good idea.

Can you believe that man rode the bike almost nude with no helmet as fast as it would go? LOL Why not just hire a smaller person if one was trying to reduce weight as much as possible....I just CRINGE thinking of that guy assholes over elbows at 150mph wearing NO protective gear? Just bare skin? OUCH OUCH OUCH

The lack of clothing was not for weight saving but for streamlining, at 150 MPH baggy clothing adds a lot of wind resistance.
