Vince was solid in the NFL as well. He was clutch and played to win. And he has a pretty good record as a starting QB. The NFL has always hated black QBs tho. Blacks QBs need to be legendary just to keep their job for more than a year

Legitimately smart football fans accept this as being factual. Fisher wanted Leinart due to USC ties. He even hired Leinart's OC for the same position. Bud Adams overruled him by taking VY. Fisher sabotaged VY's career as a middle finger to both VY and his boss. It's as simple as that.

My take is that Vince Young grew up a lot. As a player, I didn't think he wasn't a bum, he made plays and won games, but he never made his game conclusive enough to where he was untouchable. It was never all his fault, but at the time doubts about his maturity & development were questioned. I'm glad to hear he gives advice to youngsters that want to make a go of football, as I believe they can learn a lot from his acquired knowledge.

If they would have run the exact same offense that Texas did where VY played out of the shotgun then he wouldve had an amazing career, accuracy wasnt his strong suit.. he needed a run n shoot offense, he had chris Johnson at rb, tenneessee shouldve committed to running that offense once they drafted him instead of playing him under center... he couldve had a very similar career to a guy like chad pennington or alex smith... both guys who have taken their teams to the playoffs... wasted talent and alot of it by his own admission, glad to see he's learned and accepted some responsibility... people also need to remember that young had cedric benson as his primary rb in college, i believe he also may have played with jamaal charles as well who we all know was an all pro in the nfl.. he also had limas sweed who was supposed to be a 1st round wr in the nfl but got hampered by injuries... his defense at texas also had michael griffin and derrick johnson who helped give him short fields all the time, he was surrounded by studs everywhere and this helped catapult him that final year at texas... i wanted the ny jets to draft him at #4 in 2006 but he was taken #3 by the titans, and the jets took dbrickashaw Ferguson who was 10 yr staple at left tackle .. so you never know

It’s always sad to see people blame Jeff Fisher for Vince failing. If you’ve seen how Vince conducted himself on the field and financially, you would know that he was to blame for his short comings first and foremost.

I loved Vince and maybe Jeff ruined his confidence but after that magical rookie year it was all down hill. I never even wanted him benched but would always wince when he threw passes. His decision making was terrible. His accuracy was off. He wasn't even remotely on the same planet as Steve Mcnair.

I see a lot of blame going towards Fisher.... But no one is pointing out how he put blame towards Fisher for the "incident", doesn't directly answer the question about whether or not he talked to Fisher (he said Shannon was correct), then says he sent him a letter apologizing for being young and immature. Either Fisher "ruined" his career, or he was young and immature. In the real world, I would say it could have been both. In this FB and Twitter age, we have to go with who has the most likes.

amazing how people throw that in. It is a racist statement. He followed one of the greatest quarterbacks ever...who was a hero and is a legend with the team - Steve McNair. Who followed another great quarterback for the team who is a legend - Warren Moon. They were both black. Do your homework. It's much to easy to just say what you said.
