Even though WWE may be on fire at the moment with The Bloodline leading the charge, former WWE head writer Vince Russo is not a fan. He doesn't think that the members of the faction have individual personalities. Dr. Chris Featherstone and EC3 then talk about how the original nWo was diluted by the addition of new members. Will The Bloodline face the same issue as well? Find out in this edition of The Wrestling Outlaws. It's a power-packed edition like never before.

And OP is right, the little introduction they got, the announcers giving some background, etc, helped advance their story vs how people just pop up on AEW and get put in random dream matches and no backstory.

Russo is way off on this take. The bloodline is a great way to showcase the island boys. Its a great way to get them involved in main event angles right out the gate. Samoans and Tongans are some of the most durable and capable pro wrestlers to ever step into a ring. You could create a more injury resistant wrestler if you built them in a lab. The bloodline wont always be the same members, it wont always have the same leadership or do the same things. Heck, the bloodline might not even always be the main event focus. This isnt hogan, nash and hall. This is journeyman, durable, talented workers booked to get them over. We already tried the Uso's wearing face paint and doing a tribal dance during their entrance. We have had enough islanders acting like savages straight off of giligans island. This is much better in my opinion. Lets not pretend that Russo was ever the master of long term storytelling or getting anyone over that wasnt named hogan, nash or hall. Also... EC3 seriously needs to lay off the human growth hormone. I am not going to get into the medical implications that anyone can google, but damn dude. The cartilage in his nose is growing at an alarming rate along with his forehead.

I have compared the Bloodline to the nWo simply because it started out hot but now has been done to death. It’s now a game of seeing which An’oai cockroach will come debut next. I understand wanting to work with and get your family paid. But this story has overshadowed Smackdown as a brand to the point where hardly anyone else matters. And Smackdown has many great talents but the Bloodline takes up most of the show. No group or faction should ever overshadow the brand and the only draw in that group is Roman Reigns. The rest are the Samoan and Tongan supporting cast.

@@josereyes1148 How does he spin them? The numbers are the numbers. There is no spinning them. They are factual data. "His direction in WCW sucked" - completely subjective. I thought it was a huge improvement on what WCW was throughout 1999 before he got there, and clearly the viewers thought so because they were tuning back into Nitro. Regarding WCW wanting him out within a few months because of supposed bad booking, this is false. Kevin Sullivan and JJ Dillon have talked about this on Sullivan's podcast a couple of years ago. JJ got Sullivan his job back over Russo's head which is why Russo cut that scathing promo on him when he showed up in TNA. In JJ's own words, he wanted to get his buddy a payday on the Titanic and saw the opportunity to do it because management had some woman from the music industry that knew nothing about wrestling handling contracts. Then factor in Hogan and Flair wanting to keep their spot at the top of the card. Did backstage politics suddenly cease to exist or do we just conveniently ignore that so there's 1 more reason to trash Russo's booking? In those 3 months, Russo took Nitro from 2.6 - 3.4. He had the viewership up by 20% in his first 2 weeks and they only dropped below 3.0 twice (in December). That's actually quite remarkable given how long it generally takes a TV show to grow its audience. RAW in 1997 took 9 months to consistently do 3.0+ ratings.

noone is watching the bloodline for their personalities dude... we watch because we like the personalities of the faces that they are crushing.... why would u humanize the heels? just ass kicking samoans is exactly what they are and exactly what we want.... idc if solo sikoa paints or water skis on his off time i hope hes thinking about killing cody on his off time thats what they have presented to thge audience and thats why its working... u r reaching here vince. when they split and the bloodline is over u will start to characterize them. in fact u r starting to get more out of solo now he was silent killer now hes trying to run the thing.... this is the best thing theyve done in ten years just wait and watch it all wrap up.

I agree with you. Tho I think Chris had a good point in that in this day and age it seems true that WWE has been looking for that big instant pop rather than letting characters develop and that's mostly true. However I think you nailed it because at the moment Triple H is wanting this version of the Bloodline a bunch of ruthless unapologetic blood thirsty killers and the audience is definitely buying it with the now constant Roman chants as fans are already wanting Roman to come back now to confront Solo and company. But we still have months of them continuing to bully Paul Heyman (which the fans are loving right now) as well as terrorizing anyone on the main roster including Cody at some point. I respect Russos takes often but the comparison to the NWO isn't the same at all here. In my opinion other than the CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre feud This bloodline story is all most care about right now.

I got sick to death of watching that paper champion Roman Reigns and his gang of thugs. THIS is an extension of something that was already boring and overplayed.

You don't like it, OK, but you can't say it's overplayed. It's still the storyline that draws the most in wrestling, and its climax is coming soon.
