well, mafuyu is headcanoned to be transmasc but mizuki being transfem is basically canon at this point. she was implied to be a boy in her past but found out who she really was when her sister gave her a ribbon and said “here, so mizuki can be who she really is inside” - this all comes from “and now, the ribbon is tied” event by the way,,,, you can read the english translation of the story on yt

i think it's because mizuki is highly implied to be transfem, and they probably interpreted it as ''i dress according to how i feel (a boy)'' instead of 'i pretend to be something that i'm not'' so they gave that line to mafuyu, not mizuki. more transfem mizu and transmasc mafu crumbs ig

I actually really love this song. I love Nightcord @ 25 so much.... It doesn't help that my therapy attending butt relates to songs like this... Or that my creative side has made characters who relate to stuff like this when I personally don't. Like.... Jackpot Sad Girl and Infinitely Grey are my top two so far, but for a duet? goddamn why are there whole arguments over whether Mizuki is trans 💀 it's heavily implied, and if people want to hc that then they can, seriously in ensekai Mizuki gets reffered to as both "she/her" and "they/them", plus in jp they use "boku" which is generally used by young boys, so yeah there's implications from both jp and en that Mizuki is at the very least not cis lol

Yes and no, people who are trans are usually diagnosed with gender dysphoria. However I believe this song is more focused on gender stereotypes, like you can feminine whilst being male and vise versa, a lot of people just want to LGBTq+ everything.

Mizuki’s heavily implied to be trans, for the gender dysphoria in particular, their mirror was covered in flashbacks (when they had a masculine appearance) but is completely uncovered in the present

This song does indeed sound about being transgender, but I also hear some lines referring to homosexual relationships such as "I'm sure we freak them out just by holding hands." Some lines can also refer to both, such as "The more cruel a town, the more beautiful its rainbow" with rainbow representing the LGBTQ+ community in its entirety. This song sounds like it could also be a sapphic relationship where Mizuki is trans-fem and Mafuyu is not trans (or at least not trans-masc).
