I m from Argentina. I read Axel Munthe´s book when I was a teenager, at 26 I visited San Michele, and it seemed like a dream. Then I went back twice. Fortunately there are still people who read this book and is able to dream about this place.

Die Villa San Michele, wie eine Traumsequenz, ein Rausch von sinnlichen Bildern und himmlich schöner Musik. Ich war genau vor einem Jahr dort und es bleibt mir ein unvergessliches Erlebnis!

ABSOLUTELY the most BEAUTIFUL place in the world to me!

I read The Story of San Michele as a young woman and have read it many times over. Its full of magic, wonder, excitement and fairy magic. Villa San Michele has the grace and nobility of the man who dreamed it and created it. Axel Munthe was a great soul.

Being a doctor he must have seen so much suffering and tried to help those people. He was rewarded for his life long work and love.

I visited Capri in October for a few nights and this place has stayed in my memory ever since. It is so beautiful! I am now reading the books

I have read his book about six times, maybe more. Always it enchants afresh.. I also was a teenager when I read this book, and now I wonder would I be able to climb the steps to the villa. There must be relations of people he knew still living nearby, amazing. I never did hear the story about how getting the sphynx cost him an eye and almost his life? I would love to toast him with some of the wine he would have tasted himself. That would be so special

Je l'ai lu lorsque j'étais lycéen et, à 86 ans, j'en garde encore un souvenir émouvant, bien que mon prof. d'anglais ne m'ait pas été sympathique.

Today February 11th 2021 is Our Lady of Lourdes' day, the Virgin of ill people. Axel Munthe died on February 11th 1949. I guess she wanted, and wants, to have him by her side. My mother and my father visited San Michele. I read that magical book on my mother´s advice. All my love to all of them from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
