They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! Geoff hits 3 B0's! Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us that rap indeed belongs in acapella! And Miracle of Sound gave this 10 out of 10 raised ale horns!! Great reaction! This from the Assasins Creed Valhalla video game, but that rap is all J None!!

@@MrsRealistic & @doobiedave9686 In this song Geoff hits 3 B0's which is 3 or 4 piano keys from right off the edge of the piano. Pretty sure Tim Foust's low note is also a B0 (could be wrong, but there really isn't much lower one can go). Geoff has apparently hit an A0, but it is for a much shorter length of time than in this song.

  • @jamescurfman3284

We obviously know that Tim Foust has blown speakers and we even know that Avi Kaplan has also blown speakers (he did that at least once while he was still with Pentatonix). If Geoff has not blown speakers YET, I think it is only a matter of time before it happens. He just keeps working at the lows so he will be capable of it one day, if it has not already happened.

@@hwyla4416 A0 and B0 are the first two white keys o a piano keyboard, respectively - so yes, getting pretty damn low! They're also approaching the lower limit of what's considered "normal" human hearing - A0 is just over 27 Hertz (Hz, cycles per second), B0 is just over 30 Hz, and the "normal" lower limit of hearing for a young person in good health is about 20 Hz. As people age that number goes up, and if there is any damage to the ear (physical or medical problems) it will usually also go up - Geoff's B0 is getting really close to the bottom of my range! Tim Storms, who holds the world record for lowest note produced by a human, has produced notes that are completely off a piano keyboard and WAY below human hearing - we're talking below 1 Hz here. You need special mics to pick up his sounds - or an elephant!

@@jamescurfman3284 If Geoff has not blown a speaker, it is not because he is not going low enough. It is not just the note that blows them. It is also the amount of power behind the note - how loud it is. So, it could be that he just isn't singing as loudly, especially since he doesn't do much live anymore. While he did sing live just back in November, it would not have been appropriate to blow out a speaker in a Chicago concert. Not sure how low he went there, but obviously did not go for the combo of low note plus volume.

So glad you did this one! This was (at the time) one of their most involved productions - they filmed in a VR studio with huge LED screen walls, so Eli's 3D backgrounds really stood out, although the studio AC was down (Florida - 90 degrees!) - so they had to keep pausing for retouching of makeup etc.! J. None's plane from Washington was 3 hours late, which may explain his delay in joining the others! Many of their (and Geoff's) other videos are shot at Pattycake Productions studio - a company co-owned by Layne and Tony Wakim (ex-VP baritone, who wanted to explore the production side more), many of their 'shorts' are shot in the mall where the studio is located (Oviedo Mall). Pattycake also have their own videos on here, notably their 'Villains Lair' series, but my fave is 'Bump In The Night'..! As others have mentioned, they do virtually everything themselves, with the exception of additional camera operators, more advanced makeup/prosthetics (by the wizard, Rick Underwood, who worked with several of them at Universal Studios theme park) and the final audio mix by the genius that is Ed Boyer (who also works with HF and PTX among others). As far as picking a favorite - it usually tends to be - the next one! 😊

Nice reaction! 🙂 Yes, it's a cover, and Miracle of Sound commented under their video and gave them "10 raised alehorns out of 10" for the most creative cover of his song 😁. These guys have it all. And you didn't try their sense of humour yet... Wait until you'll watch "Drunken sailor", or "Golden hour" (in which they are at the same time sweet, funny and weird 😅), or "In the Hall of the Mountain King" which is the most hilarious delirium I've watched/listened to in years. Or many others, like ANY of their Halloween installments. 😁 Others have suggested songs for your next reaction to them... I'd add "I can't make you love me", where, just like in "Creep" (or maybe even more), you'll be able to experience the most emotional side of Cesar's voice (and acting). And "Running up that hill", originally by Kate Bush and which they present in a more "Stranger things"-like kind of version. 🙂 See you next time!

Great reaction! This one's so much fun. Hoist the Colours and Drunken Sailor are definitely a pair, but it's a bit up in the air as to which should be considered the prequel/sequel; DS was released some time later, but the guys are a lot more serious and looking very much the worse for wear in HtC. Some others that come highly recommended, leaning slightly toward the theatrical side and in no particular order: The Dragonborn Comes, Sleeping in the Cold Below, The Wellerman, In The Hall of the Mountain King, The Greatest Showman medley, Creep, Queen in Five Minutes (requires watching closely and reading the brief character intros!), the Moana and Little Mermaid medleys, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Seven Nation Army, Hellfire, We Don't Talk About Bruno, The Phantom of the Opera, Friends on the Other Side.

@@MrsRealisticWell, that would be even better. However, they have done quite a few movie and theatre musical covers. If you saw Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, they did a cover of Hellfire from that, which is pretty fantastic. As well, their covers of "If I Were a Rich Man/Girl" (mostly from Fiddler on the Roof), "Oogie Boogie's Song" (The Nightmare Before Christmas), and their Moana Medley (from Moana) are all good examples of what they can do with movie and stage musical covers - especially if you know any of the originals. They are great regardless, though. The Moana one is from 6 years ago, so they look a lot younger and have a few members there who have been gone from the group for awhile. Also, since you like Geoff Castellucci's voice (the bass in the group), you might want to check out one of the solos from his channel. Sixteen Tons is a great start there.

@@MrsRealisticYes, they are .. Try taking a relisten, then REALLY focus on everything OTHER than Geoffs bass voice.. "You" really don't understand how good they ALL are, until you have focused on them all, individually.. I mean - try one relisten ONLY focusing on Eli.. Then one ONLY focusing on Layne and so on.. I'm still in awe over the FINAL note of the video from Eli.. I mean you are talking about all of them, but that's really not the "norm" when people react to voiceplay....

It’s interesting you made the comment about feeling like you were in an ice cream store. In Peter Barber’s interview with Geoff, he said that he was vanilla ice cream. 😄 I’d recommend you check out Geoff’s channel. His covers of 16Tons and Big Bad John are pure bassy goodness.

@@MrsRealistic Geoff was calling himself vanilla. Sorry I didn’t make that clear. 😊 I personally would consider Geoff to be Triple Fudge Brownie.

@moriahwhite1188 Oh, no no...I didn't mean that I thought YOU called him Vanilla! I was just surprised that he called HIMSELF vanilla! Sorry for the confusion! And I agree with you! As much as I love Vanilla ice cream... he needs way more toppings added to it! 😆👍

So you were a theatre kid, you say? Then you should definitely check out Ayreon. It is a project that does Rock Opera where every album tells one story. Each character is sung by one vocalist from many different bands. And the music is great, too. The Day That The World Breaks Down from the Album The Source is an obvious starting point, because it provides quite a bit of background information from the mastermind behind the project himself. But please do the official studio video. The official live version from last year's concert should get released sometime later this year, I guess. I won't share more information here to not spoil anything. But the Ayreonauts are great with providing all the info in the comments. If you decide to go down this rabbit hole too, the live shows from 2017 and 2019 are on KZread in their entirety.
