Vikings Trading 11th Overall Pick To The Washington Commanders?
Спорт
In this episode of the Wobcast 2.0, Wobby and Gyles discuss the upcoming NFL draft and potential draft scenarios for the Minnesota Vikings. They speculate on the Vikings' interest in quarterback Jaden Daniels and the possibility of trading up to secure a top quarterback. They also discuss the New York Giants' quarterback situation and the potential interest in quarterback JJ McCarthy. The conversation then shifts to the Patriots' plans at the third overall pick and the Vikings' options if they can't trade up. They explore the possibility of drafting quarterback Bo Nix and the potential benefits and risks of that decision. In this conversation, the hosts discuss the potential of drafting quarterback Bo Nix and the historical success of quarterbacks taken outside of the first round. They also debate the importance of voluntary offseason programs and the absence of star players like Justin Jefferson. The conversation concludes with a lighthearted discussion about Tom Brady's potential return to the NFL and his desire to win a third championship with a third team.

JJ McCarthy isn't worth three 1st's and more. The Vikings are better off just staying at 11 and picking there. Picking from desperation won't make the team better.

You're right. It has the potential to keep us in our present purgatory. If they do it, it's for this regime to take a desperate shot to get to 2nd contracts for KOC and KAM. If a trade-up results in a bust, then we'll have new leadership in a few years, trying another path.

@viker63 I personally wouldn't mind them selecting Penix at 11. He's talented and would have a great chance to succeed with the Vikings.
Yea, I am not giving up that much to trade up for JJ McCarthy. Sorry

3 first rounders for a borderline 1st round qb pre-combine is wild.

Its almost like early draft grades dont mean as much because its made by "draft guys" before they even watch all the tape. and its almost like the later grades mostly come from scouts and evaluators after theyre done with the nfl season and can actually watch more.
McCarthy is not a #4 pick. He is a #11 or #23 at best. The Cardinals are asking too much for #4 and this is not a secret. This would have been done before the draft if that was the case. The Vikings hope McCarthy will slip to them at #11 but that is a slim chance. More likely the Vikings will select Penix Jr. or Nix'. They may even trade down with the 23rd or 11th pick to get a second round pick and then select Rattler. A good backup QB in case our new 10 million dollar hire (Darnold) falters or is hurt. Having said all that, it all depends what the Vikings are willing to spend...No one is worth the Herschel Walker Deal.

I'm all in for Nix at 11 or 23.
You did NOT just trade 3 1st round picks for the 4th overall?!! CMON MAN. That's more than enough for the 1st overall. Check your value charts. The Vikings aren't folding the future for JJ McCarthy.

McCarthy is the youngest, has the biggest upside, and is the only QB in the last like 5 drafts to win a championship at every level he has played…AND when “QB tax” is involved, 3 first rounders is actually not enough to go up…specially when you have idiots running the shows in places like new england who think they arent gunna destroy a career, and the commies who are also set to ruin a career…and no way in hell mccarthy makes it past pick 8 more or less getting to 11…if im kwesi and trying to keep my job, i most definitely make that trade…as well as KOC is here to develop a guy…who better than the youngest prospect QB…someone who’s brain isnt as developed as the rest, meaning he is MORE moldable and can be trained out of his “issues”
@laserchiefwankoo204

I agree on mccarthy but youre severely unrealistic with the pick values. You throw the chart out the window when youre talking top 3 picks. And to a lesser degree, the top 5. Teams are going to tax you for a top 3 pick and thats where ChArTs become useless. A top 3 pick is worth whatever the team asks for
Why not just trade now 11&23 for 5th spot. Then you could trade with AZ, for 4 and only give up like a 3rd. Why would AZ care? They'd know you're taking JJ they still get the number 1 wr for cheaper and get a 3rd rounder
@wiscored88
3 ай бұрын
Because if you move to 5, the giants can move to 4…which sounds easier for us to go from 5 to 4 BUT to go to 5 will probably cost us 3 firsts, then we would lose our 4th rounders most likely to go from 5 to 4
@wiscored88

Only way we “guarantee” our guy “early” would be to go up to 2 or 3
McCarthy is not worth (3) 1st round picks PLUS late picks. If Kwesi does that, that should be the last thing he ever does as a GM. That would be a horrible draft, no way 75% of Vikings fans want that.
@wiscored88
3 ай бұрын
75% of viking fans arent professionals and have zero say…as well as the only idea that should get kwesi fired is NOT taking a risk…him and KOC were brought in because as a stock market guy, kwesi should be willing to take risks, and KOC to develop a franchise QB…mccarthy has MORE upside and has proven MORE than anyone else in this draft plus he is the youngest of the QBs…McCarthy would go from good to great here in Minnesota

Its actually more like 2 firsts and a first rd pick swap.
I’m loving the draft info Wobby! We miss you down here in Waseca. Keep up the good work bud
I don't care if they draft Caleb Williams, there's really no reason to get excited unless you see your draft pick play in the NFL and can see if their good or not.
For a second I thought Gyles was Kevin O'Connell XD. Great show!!! #SKOL

Me too lol!
I disagree, they aren't drafting JJ Mccarthy!
Aaron Rogers is a good example of a QB hitting after fell in the first rnd.
Would hate to give up that amount for a Kirk cousins comp. That next year #1 could easily be a top 7-9 pick. If not earlier. Detroit, packers and bears all will be solid next year and we are anticipated to have a super tough schedule
the falcons should have to give up the 8th pick for our 23rd pick for tampering with our QB a QB is so to speak higher crime than tampering with defensive coordinator.
If the Vikings have to give up that 25' first rounder for McCarthy I think there will be more blowback from Viking fans than what Wobby and Gyles think. I actually believe many Viking fans would be fine at keeping their picks and taking Penix at #11, but probably not KOC or Kwesi.....and that's what matters.
@laserchiefwankoo204

That 1st rd pick is massively overrated. Theyll still win 7-9 games next year. And plus will have 100M+ in cap. We can afford to give up a 1st rd pick for 1 year
@kevinfessler6831

@@laserchiefwankoo204 I think the Vikings win 6 or maybe 7 games this year. They could surprise, but they need to build through the draft. Yes on the cap space, and it's good to finally have some, but you fine tune your team through free agency. You build your team through the draft. I think most fans are comfortable trading away multiple first rounders to get the QB KOC loves, but it's tricky because all of the QB (except Caleb IMO) have serious flaws in their game. No second day picks this year, no second round pick next year, and they likely have to give up next year's first rounder. I suspect the Vikings are throwing all their chips on the table.
What source said the Vikings weren't impressed with Penix at the private workout?
I have heard they are trading anywhere into the top 5 keeping their picks or trading down. Somewhere in there someone is right.
The Vikings of course picked the worst season to trade up in the top 10 to get a quarterback of the future. Two 1st round picks and still cannot get it due. I mean they can get one at possibly 4 or 5 but I don't think it's worth it with what you'll get up.

Outside of QB this draft has no one even close to being an instant game changer. So odds are next year will have a couple. They need to keep the 2025 #1 because they could be very likely drafting in the top ten next year.
If the Vikings trade to two. It will be for Maye. But imo Maye is going second to Washington
I rather take Nix at 11 to be safe. Then add Powers Johnson, Frazier, or Barton with the 23rd pick

Sounds great, I'm with you. DO NOT trade away your future on a maybe!
High risk but what the heck if it pans out.for the next 10 years but I'd stick and pick myself and get the BPA DT and BPA CB
Even having Tom Brady as a QB coach would be huge
Gave it a shot but there's a reason they're not in a front office. I'll stick with Purple Daily
If NE picks a QB, they will ruin that QB, and set themselves back a few years.
Why trade our future away when we could get Bo Nix, Mike Penix or even McCarthy along with Let's say Chop Robbinson, Byron Murphy Terrion Arnold. Johnny Newton . I am so bored with hearing this trade up for anyone other than Drake Maye or Caleb. Mccarthey is green He probably won't play and next year's draft would really suck.

Bo Nix led Auburn to a 9-4 record in his freshman season, winning the Iron Bowl, 48-45 . All you hear is how bad he was at Auburn. Most QB wear a red shirt their freshman year. The only thing here is how much he improved every year. It seems like people are afraid to like him because a couple local evaluators. I here all this short pass stuff but that's not what you see on tape. You see high percentage throws. Oh, then you here Organ's offence wasn't a pro-offence. They always sent out 5 eligible pass catchers and Nix saw them well and hit the open guy. Stats prove that. Michigan ran the ball 75 % of the time.😅 You can't make this stuff up LOL.

Look this is going to be unpopular take, but I am so tired of hearing about Daniels, Maye, and McCarthy, enough please! These quarterbacks, are scratch off lotto tickets! Of the top 6, probably only 2 maybe 3 make starter! Guys who ever they draft will set 1st year! Sam Darnold is the starter, for 2024! Back in the day when Cousins was learning O'Connell's offense, he called it muddy, or difficult. Reality says you have 2 quarterbacks trying to learn the offense, Darnold must get 1st team snaps.

@@KingDavid-D37 You're absolutely right, Nix is going to be a star in the NFL. I'm a Duck fan and let me tell you, he's got what it takes.
Giants are not drafting a qb
Also I bet Vikings trade with Pat's at 3#
Viking fan since 1970. If O'Doodles and Kwesi trade away 3 first round picks for McCarthy, he better turn into Tom Brady, or they will be flying kites in the Amazon in a couple of years!!!
Where are people co.ing up with this? Was has no QB and will draft one at 2
Take a top pick qb in this talented draft class.you have to OVERPAY for this important position. 😮
Daniel’s @3 or Penicx @23
The giants aren't drafting a qb, it's a smoke screen. Stupid take
We don’t want that JJ !
This dude is gonna get sued by the Vikings for trying to create his show to reflect the idea that this is a MN Vikings podcast.
