The interchange between King Aella and King Ecbert was priceless. They start off the conversation standing on the same grounds (as equals) and then King Ecbert walks up one step to demonstrate dominance. So subtle yet so powerful

.I love it when shows show this. Avatar did it for some time when the Fire Lord was present, specifically compared to Zuko. The whole dynamic of how a simple angel or position of a character can go so far as to demonstrate power. They did this in the early seasons of Game of Thrones too when Tywin was questioned by Joffrey about having to climb the tower of the hand to attend a small council meeting. With vikings, these three shows do an excellent job of using this subtle show of power.

The only one at fault for Lagertha’s miscarriage is Lagertha herself. Ragnar not only didn’t force her into coming, he repeatedly tried to talk her out of it, out of fear for this exact thing happening. If Aelle assassinated Ecbert out in the open he would have been captured and put to trial by Æthelwulf immediately. It’s not like with the Vikings where you kill the ruler and then take his place, it’s a herreditary monarchy.

They're not moving the boats to flank an attack in a different angle, they're bypassing the "tripwire" trap that Rollo hooked up between two riverside guard forts, and continuing downstream towards Paris. The battle in the previous episode took place on the river on the way to Paris, not in Paris itself.

Honestly, I felt that was ooc for Aslaug. I think she was drunk off her ass. She has shown zero callousness before toward children, and had gone out of her way for Bjorn and Porunn, only to suddenly not care about this child whose parents she tried to keep together and with their child? I don't buy it. Tbh, it was an attempt to make Aslaug look horrible to the audience for some reason. The writers didn't need to do this though, most already don't like her just based off being Ragnar's wife over Lagertha alone.

In my opinion, Harbard is just a con artist, skilled at playing women whose husbands are away at the time. The Hárbarðsljóð is a tale from the Icelandic Poetic Edda, and tells the story of an encounter between Harbard, a ferryman, and Thor, who is returniong to Asgard from a battle with giants. Harbard insults Thor repeatedly, and boasts of his own sexual prowess with women. One of the theories of some experts on the tale is that Harbard is actually Loki, the Trickster, as there are many similarities in the insults that Harbard uses and those that Loki has previously hurled at Thor.

Þorgrímur Þorvaldsson I commented on a previous reaction where Harbard’s character is written and influenced by Grigori Rasputin. Rasputin was a peasant who lived in Siberia who worked his way up to the point where he had control over Tsar Nicholas and Tsarina Alexandra. He had more influence over Tsarina Alexandra which mirrors Harbard’s over Aslaug’s. Similar to the show with Harbard helping Ivar with the pain, Rasputin healed Nicholas’ and Alexandra’s son, Alexei who suffered from Hemophilia. He was drunk very often, got high off his head with Nicholas and slept around all the time which again is somewhat similar to Harbard’s character. Even with all of these actions, he was still seen as a “God” to the people of Russia and Harbard is also seen as some sort of “God”. Grigori Rasputin has a very interesting life and you should check out a biography on him. “Biographics” on KZread does great videos on figures throughout history and they’ve done one on Rasputin too.

It would have only took them 3 or 4 days to build the necessary equipment to start moving the boats. There are hundreds of them. Moving them on the other hand depending on how far they went would have taken up to a week.

It would've taken them 10 to 14 days to move the boats over the mountains. It took Caesar 10 days to build a bridge over the Rhine. The Rhine was 1000 feet wide, 30 feet deep. He marched into what is now Germany for 18 days then marched his 40,000 troops back, then dismantled the bridge after him.

If you think it was crazy moving that boat, watch the film Fitzcarraldo, they move a steamship! They had numerous problems filming because of the harsh conditions of moving that huge ship in a remote area of Peru.

To me, the character of Harbard is the representation of the absence of the men in norse women and children's life. If you think about it, Harbard came always when the husbands left their family to go viking. Few women, including Aslaug that have issue with their husband feel empty and somewhat needy and seek for a love replacement. Some of the children are happy to find a "new dad", other missed their dad and feel betrayed about seeing their mother enjoying another man, finding it wrong. Again, characters like Helga that love their husband are less influenced, (Siggy's story is just bullshit cause the actress wanted to quit the show). Overall, all this Harbard thing seem to me that a big representation of the consequences of the absence of the husbands and fathers in their family homes.

Nononono!! Its not Ragnar's fault. He almost begged her not to do what she did. He wanted her to take care of herself. This is totally on Lagertha. She believed the Seer's prophecy and didn't expect to keep the child. Foolish, yes, but her decision - Ragnar couldn't stop her.

omg wow. Aslaug. That just killed me. WTH. Can someone kill her please! WOW. OK, so Floki.... is Bran Stark now? He becomes king, as Floki the Fleet Builder, because he has the best story? 😂 --- re:Rollo.... had he not killed the settlement folk, last week, I'd be OK with what he's doing. It would be sad that he would choose not to be a Viking, but as long as he didn't raid Viking land or try and overthrow viking rule, which he's not doing currently, I'd support his new life more. Making his own way in the world. But he slaughtered people. And now Ragnar's coming to him in revenge. 4rth or 5th attack on Paris.... I miss going to Wessex. Also Aslaug needs to die. lol.

That scene with the northmen killing the family that’s really what they did, imagine a whole continent. Native America but that’s the past. The fun fact you might like is the scene with the pope and the thorn from Christ. There is a legend that Europe actually got their hands on the real cross and very important book in the first series of crusader raids. The books are what gave the templars the power and the more fascinating part is that till this day no one expect for the very lucky have glanced at these books

**How on EARTH is Lagertha losing her child Ragnar's fault? Honestly, I'd like to know what made you say that. He even advised her not to do strenuous things while she was with child. What more could he have done? She and most Viking women were independent women unlike a lot of women today. They didn't need others to guide or babysit them or force them to make decisions for their own good. If you want to hold her ex husband accountable for the things she does, then not only does that make ZERO sense, but that would also be an insult to her spirit. She decided on her own what she wanted to do, in spite of getting repeatedly warned by Ragnar.**

Hand Licking: this all was started by Travis himself behind the scenes. The actor who plays The Seer wears makeup that really does cover his eyes. Ragnar was supposed to be “crossing his palm with silver” in episode 1, but decided to play a trick on the actor by instead licking his hand, hoping for a “Eww! WTF Travis!” Reaction. But The Seer’s actor was too clever and reacted as you saw onscreen ‘in character’. The producers loved it, and decided that hand-licking would be the method of paying The Seer going forward.
