Travis portrayal of Ragnar is in my opinion his best acting of his entire life!!! The awards are so political and so tied to money paid by the channels that promote the shows like Starz does with Outlander. The History Channel never promoted Vikings to the awards judges, so they didn’t win much.

Indeed, Ragnar and his sons sacrificed so much, but all became legends. It’s crazy to think that in real life, Ragnar and his sons were even more legendary and powerful, with Bjorn, Sigurd, Ivar and Ubbe all became legendary Vikings in their own right, and tormented the land that killed their father for a generation.

Steven called it again! As Ragnar says in this episode: "I don't love her." He loves Lagertha, probably more BECAUSE she left. Lagertha holds Ragnar to the same high standards she sets for herself. Gotta respect that. Ragnar prioritizing the possibility of prophesied sons to come over his current family is shitty, but in Norse culture coldly rational. It's not as if Bjorn stops being his son even if he leaves, so from Ragnar's perspective he's still ahead. 1 son & namesake, hopefully more sons to come.

Going shirtless into battle was sometimes the mark of the Berserkers, terror warriors who worked themselves into a battle frenzy that apparently gave them an adrenaline high with great strength and resistance to pains and wounds. A legendary berserker actually made the history books for holding a bridge in England against an army until he had been “killed” several times, finally impaled on spears from beneath the bridge.

This is only the start to one of the best seasons in the show. It only gets better lol. By the way, all Rollo wants is to step out of the shadow of Ragnar. Fame is a huge thing and Rollo feels as if he gets no recognition. He doesn’t hate Ragnar, he just thinks Ragnar is taking all the credit, even for the things that he does. He wants to be mentioned as “Rollo”, not “Ragnar Lothbrok’s brother”. Loved the reaction. Going to be interesting to see your reaction to the start of episode 2 lol.

    - Clive Standen (Rollo) talked about fighting shirtless: "The berserkers became a great tale in history, almost like the Navy SEAL force of the Vikings, where they would go into battle after taking some magic mushrooms. The word "beserker" comes from *bare skin* and some people have interpreted that meaning warriors wearing 'skins of bears', and the other people interpreted it as being 'bare skinned' and we used that with Rollo, going to battle with absolutely no armor on him whatsoever, because he believes wholeheartedly that is the day of his death, and the length of his life was fated by the gods long before he was born, so there is no need to wear armor, and he can go into battle and fight ferociously for his place in Valhalla. And if he is meant to die he is meant to die, which makes him quite formidable on the battlefield." In Danish, the word translates to "bar særk", literally meaning "naked shirt/without a shirt". - The series makes several references to the medieval text "Egils saga", an account of the life of the 10th century poet and viking Egill Skallagrímsson. Arne's violent death at the hands of Rollo is taken from an episode where Egill, in a berserker rage, pierces an enemy and lifts him high into the air. - Rollo is being sentenced by the Lawgiver, at something called "Law Rock". Law Rock was a real place on Iceland, and the entire valley is still visited by tourists today, it is called Lögberg and is the site of the oldest parliament in the world. The specific location of the rock itself is unknown because of the changes in the valley's landscape over the past 1000 years, but there are two possible spots that have been pointed out. Law Rock appears in many Icelandic sagas, this passage is from Njál's saga, and describes the lead-up to the adoption of Christianity: "The following day both sides went to the Lögberg, and Christians as well as heathens named witnesses and denounced each others laws and regulations. Then there arose such a tumult at the Lögberg that no one could hear what anyone else said."

You don't expect things, this show isn't a slow burn, it's a sprint... in bare feet...over broken glass... things change so quickly and it's all over the place!

I’m rewatching Vikings and stumbled on you guys. You’re a treat to watch. I was thinking about Bjorn on this particular rewatching of this episode. I think Bjorn was “fated” to go with his mother. In season 1, when they were camping on their walk to The Thing, Ragnar told Bjorn that he might need to take care of their family because he (Ragnar) was making choices that could change in a way that makes it impossible for Ragnar to do it. I think this would count...

You two are great to me! With everything fake and pretended on this internet, you are the only one without the slightest doubt about the feelings that are written on your face while watching and commenting on the series we adore. I live far from your world, so I am very happy to think that the moral is so universal where ever you are ! You're wonderful! I follow you even after watching episodes of The house off the dragon ". It's as if I have friends with whom I completely understand the topic and plot of a show! 😘 Love from Croatia! Hope that you read this, it's older reaction, but I like to look back to the good shows!

When he screams "Why" at them after thhe fight or the "conversation" with the daughter is something that touch you in the feels... Travis should hv own an Oscar for this show and when u finish all season you will agree. Sry big coment. Luv you guy! Ps: when its the days that u upload vikings?
