turned a priest, to free man, to warrior to his best friend. Ragnar and Athelstan by far have the most unique friendship in any show, movies, anime and cartoons. I seriously don't know what kind of person that murders so many christians but can still tell your best friend a christian that "our gods can become friends". Love this show so much because of these two. But this show is still great because how they introduce new characters like Ragnar's sons.

@@FirstLast-oy4ee Simple, they do, but not as good anymore. I stopped watching after Ragnar died, its just so boring, Ragnars sons are boring. Ragnar was a bit loco, the acting was superb, you really believed it. His sons are so overdone, the acting is rather underwelming, its just boring to watch.

Who created the plot?

I'm on season 4 right now and I just can't let go of their love. Their love was everything. They didn't put a label on it, it wasn't sexual, romantic, platonic, it was just pure love and it's amazing. Please Athelstan, come back and help Ragnar.

Their friendship is just the weirdest and best. I love how they both try to understand their religions and never try to change each other’s beliefs. Now Athelstan, Ragnar and Lagertha can have their farm again in Valhalla.

I lost my brother a few months ago to brain cancer and that line "Why did you have to die, we had so much more to talk about" kills me and brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Beautiful video, huge fan of the show but because of my loss I feel so many similarities.

All of Ragnar's descendants eventually acknowledged Christ as their God, so I say Ragnar, having been baptized a Christian, got to the other side and was received in warm embrace by his brother, ÆÞelstan, realizing that Christ was the God of our world all along and he could truly rest in peace.

Am I the only one that sees Love between them that’s far more than “bromance” ? I honestly feel that Ragnar might of been INLOVE with Athelstan. Even when the show does not show it in plain sight, but it still hints to their deep love for each other.

I totally agree with you. I don't know if he's aware of it, but I do think that Ragnar is in love with Athelstan. And eve if he wasn't in love with him, he loved Athelstan more than anything. More than he loved his wives. More than he loved his sons. See his reaction when he went back to Kattegat after years. He didn't look really happy or touched when he saw his sons after all this time. But when he met Alfred, he was almost crying, like it was Athelsta that he found back. And the argument was Ecbert was clear enough. " He choose to leave with me because he loved me more ". I think Ragnar was jealous of the relationship between Athelstan and Ecbert. Anyway, it was more than jst friendship. So much more.

Athelstan was the only one who Ragnar could truly appreciate and value, more than his own wives, children, friends, brother, etc. We see the downfall of his emotional outbreak after his passing

What they had was so special, I have never seen a relationship like theirs. They chose each other over everyone else

I will never say i love you to my best friend and if i did, not with that sight and that sparkle in the eyes.... Its not because you refuse to admit that they LOVE each other that we are obliged to follow your opinion and refuse to admit their love too. I think you were never in love before... Or never loved..

Throughout the series I adored their friendship and the love they had for each other. They were two different people from different lands, they were raised differently, and even though they weren't sharing common morals and values, they tried to understand and support each other... If that's not friendship I don't know what is... When Athelstan got killed, Ragnar's goodbye speech to him made me cry hard... After his death,. Ragnar was never the same person again. He changed, and even after years he was still grieving for his dearest friend... Their friendship is the best fictional friendship I've seen so far...

I lost a tear when Ragnar stared at the sky telling Athelstan about how they would have conquered Paris together. And then when he wanted to be reunited with him in death, the waterworks broke and now I'm a teary mess.

I have never once seen the tv show Vikings but I cried so hard because of the emotions you showed in this 3 minute video (and a half). The relationship between these two characters broke my heart. And when i realized that one of them had died and the other carried his cross wherever he went I chocked and started a new round of crying. I know, i'm a wuss. But this video...is stunning.

this was my favorite friendship in the entire series, the love ragnar had for Athelstan was almost unmatched even to his own family, and when he died it was like a piece of ragnar did too. so sad but an amazingly told story, and an awesome video you made 👏🏽

I watched the first 2 seasons a couple years ago and just got back into this awesome show, finally caught up in the 4th season. This is one of the best most heartwrenching series out there today, and Ragnar and Athelstan's bromance is a big part of it! The love that they had for each other is undeniable, two people from different worlds/religions at a time when religion was one of the biggest parts of life, who saw past that and developed a bond that'll live in infinity! VIKINGS is an epic show!!!!!!!!

After 5 years i still cry to this video :( Man this TV Series has shaped me alot. I've read alot of norse mythology, became a better person. I also started sword and shield fighting training in my city because of it. For me it's the top tv series ever.

I just recently finished Athelstans story...and this...i am in tears man...this was so beautifully made. All the parallels, the voiceovers, everything...

“I hope that some day our gods can become friends” what a revolutionary phrase... love it

Ragnar never recoveried from the lost of Athelstan...his downfall started there...I can relate...he was his only friend, his only confident, the only one he could truly trust ...athelstan changed him and he spirraled downword from there and gave up for his sons to fight for him...

This is one of my favorite tributes to Ragnar and Athelstan. And thanks for not overpowering the video with music! I wanted to hear their voices!

+BATMAN I truly believe that Vikings will move on to the Story of Bijorn and Ivar the Boneless and Ubbe and Seigfreid Snake in the Eye, and it will carry on to the Great Heathen War, where Ragnars sons will battle against Albert, Athelstan's son. What a tragedy that will be.
