(just for information). if anybody is leaving there turn signals in the original position but want to shorten the post that actually holds the turn signal light so the turn signals do not stick out so far you can do this by buying from Harley shorter support posts, think they com from soft tail range, check the length with Harley Davidson. i did this to my 883 iron. that long bolt that has the nut a quarter of the way down welded to its shaft is the bolt to use. all i did was hacksaw the short end of just behind the nut head and threaded it in to the hole from the inside of the fender going out towards the light and post, its just enough length left on the bolt and i also put a bit of blue loctite on just to make sure. i have had no problems with it and lights look much better shorter and closer in to the fender. hope this helps someone but please check your measurements.

You are a brave man! I fumbled my way through this last weekend. I didn't have a lift so took the fender completely off and just used my leg to hold the thing down while sawzalling the damn old mount off. Having successfully gotten through both parts of the install definitely some lessons learned. It blew my mind how much space you had once you took the shocks off. Hats off to you man! I like the product but the instructions were horrible. Bought them since all bags were 25% off with the sturgis code. I would do it again but I would totally do it differently. That bracket also rubs against the fender when installed so gotta keep an eye on the fender for rust later. Thanks for the vid!

Agree. The instructions left a lot to the imagination, and there were 3 different sets of fastener kits to pick from.

I did my wife’s sportster over the weekend. Didn’t use a Jack or didn’t have to drill out any rivets. Make it easy and remove the fender and use a Dremel to cut off the license plate bracket. Took me 4 house total to relocate taillights and mount bags, and I was taking my time the whole time

I just completed this move on my 2018 Lowrider. Had to remove the entire rear fender to get at all the fasteners. Took me most of an afternoon to redo wiring, fit the bags, drill the bags and remount everything. What a pain but it sure looks good when you're done.

Dang man sorry for all the trouble. This is one reason why my sporty doesn't have rear turn singles (front won't work without the rear so I don't have either)... but unlike mine where my brake light is separate from the turn i can do that and still have a rear brake light. Yours are integrated so you don't have too much of a choice.

I gave up after four hours and some fender scratches for my 2022 softail standard. My kit did not come with the extra wire. I think I am going to spend hundreds of dollars to get a tail tidy type kit, and get it installed at a dealer. The instructions from Viking properly sucks, and the bracket made the rear end ugly. If I do end up going that route, I am not looking forward to installing the bags. This is a bit of a nightmare.

Just did this same thing. I noticed that with the removal of the license plate side piece you also lose your wiring harness that keeps wires tucked. I tried zip tiring my wires on inner side of mounting arm but I am nervous about how close they are to tire. What worked for you if you have the time? Thanks!

Heh, Viking Bags stole your video, and "redacted" some of the comments about it being a difficult job. No two ways about it though.. relocating the turn signals and plate is a royal pain in the ass.... this is nothing on Viking Bags, as it would be the same regardless of which brand you use; unless you take it to Harley and they charge $1800+ for it.

Been toying with relocating my plate to an axle or shock mount. Really dislike how far the plate sticks out. Worried about how long it would take to hacksaw through it, how clean I could make it look, and not slip and nick anything.
