His voice is so soft and comforting, but not quite the type to make you fall asleep, but the kind that compels you and draws you in to listen what he has to say. What a great man. Mysterious as fuck and in touch with who he is and the world around him. And a very literate man. He knows over 5 or 6 languages.

Very good interview. Very short though, but very intimate. Quite revealing. THE ROAD was, for me, one of the best movies I've seen. It really does show how frail life is. How we take everything for granted and then when it all collapses we're eating breadcrumbs off of table tops. It shocked me: No plant life. No birds, no instects. Beached whale skeletons on the shores. Everything was gone. People lived like Homeless people in a post-apocolyptic world. It was a very disturbing and sad movie.

Portraying a common emotion like paternal love and devotion, even under uncommon circumstances, in a unique but completely relatable way seems like it'd be tough. Viggo Mortenson pulls it off really well.

"I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!" Aragorn spoke of the same themes as this film. That is what makes TLotR so great!
