    Offices do not block noises, trees do. Offices are used in noise areas just to make a large gap between the noise source and the houses, but the noise amount will still be the same in that area. Only trees will actively lower the noise.

    For the roundabout, the lane going off should have a solid instead of dotted line, because if it is a dedicated turning lane people don't need to cross it. Also I think that the green area you have put in for the bike lane should carry on through the junction (with dotted lines around it), instead of forcing it to go off.

    With Sunset Harbor, I've found the most effective way to check for drinking water pollution is to check the Fishing info tab. The Pollution info tab can show 0% despite minute amounts of pollution in the water supply and my citizens getting sick. But the Fishing info tab makes it really clear where the water pollution is. Try it out: Plop down some sewage drains, wait some time, and then open up the Fishing info tab.

  • @Seriously_Unserious
    @Seriously_Unserious3 жыл бұрын

    Biffa, I have a powerful suggestion for your busses to get more people riding them for an upcoming bus fix episode. Right now you've still got your original lines winding around every road and that just makes for a long trip for anyone taking the bus. Nobody wants a long trip weaving around every back street, driveway and parking lot under the sun, I'm sure many of your Cims are looking at the Horkey Borkey bus service and saying "NOPE! I'm just gonna drive my car - I'd rather get to work before my shift ends then take a scenic tour of the whole city and arrive just in time to commute back home again." Let's work on that, so your Cims see the New Tealand Bus Service as a fast, efficient way to get to work without having to worry about driving their own cars. The key is start with where do all the cars go? Mostly from residential to commercial, office or industrial. What routes do they currently take in the most volume? Find those routes and route your mainline busses along them, with stops where people would likely need them to access the busses conveniently. Make sure these mainline routes run as straight as possible so they get their riders to their destination with as few detours as possible. Given the shape of your city, those routes should cover most of it, but there will be a few areas where some people will be left out. Route some local feeder busses along the feeder roads that connect to your main arterial roads and have stops within a short walk of each other in at least 1 place for any mainline route following your arterial roads, that way the people in the ends of the neighborhoods can access the mainline busses and get to their destination with just a transfer or 2 even if they're deep in the suburban neighborhoods. I build my busses and mass transit this way and I quickly find my service has a hard time keeping up with all the demand. Eventually, if your city grows into a more grid pattern, you'll find most of your busses will tend to follow the main roads of the grid, interconnecting with each other so anyone can get from anywhere in your city to anywhere in your city using just mass transit. Busses specifically, become a way for people to use the roads without ever driving a single car on your roads for their entire trip. You'll still have many that prefer their cars, but those who prefer busses will not be forced to ever use a car if they don't want to. I'm confident if you see this comment and implement this fix on your bus system, you'll see ridership skyrocket.

    I like how you carefully fixed the bike path to the cable car, even protected the poor bikers with sound barrier walls from the evils of the highway traffic, and then left a power pylon right in the middle of the bike path.

    Two thoughts on the line markings at 6:09 - the green bike lane is marked in a way that suggests that all bike must exit the roundabout, but in fact many bikes (also at 5:19 ) stay on and line markings should communicate that to car and truck drivers exiting the roundabout (and crossing the path of stay-on bike traffic!) - your markings suggest: the outer lane exits, the middle lane continues as the middle lane, the inner lane as the inner lane. However, roundabout reality is different: the lane connectors that come with a ctrl-shift-click-setup explicitly move lane changes to nodes that have roads connected so that lane changes only happen where they are supported by priority rules. So every stay-on vehicle knows the rule: "At every exit not taken change one [amount of exit lanes] lane towards the outside." ... lane markings could show this spiral behavior: middle lane to outer lane, inner lane to middle lane, new outer lane. Upgrading roads with bike lanes 24:37 "Should we do this one as well?" - You answer your question with "No", but maybe you reconsider: There is a pedestrian bridge (upgradeable to pedestrian + bicycle) over the highway that could use the connection.

    A little suggestion. In my opinion you have so many ferries that it makes the coastal area look messy and polluted, maybe you could decrease the amount of ferries in the same part you have the tram. That way the city would have a cleaner look and more people would use the tram. Anyway I love the look of the city so far 😍

    As you unlocked the helicopters, my warning: Don't use them to connect larger areas. Everyone wants to use them (because they seem fast), and they have a really small capacity. This causes large queues of people (who then actually don't reach their target any time soon, and if you try to increase the number of Helicopters, you get the helicopters queuing up in the air). Only use them to connect really small outlying villages which don't have many people, and where other kind of transport is not sensible.

    Hey Biffa, I'm sort of monitoring your flooding problem in the industry area (that burned down several times) for quite some time. I think it would help if you would move the pump somewhere else. They are doing some weird stuff with the water current. Maybe that would solve the fire problem in this area, too. You see that there are traffic jams. I think they result from vacuum trucks, who are desperately trying to clean the street. So if they don’t have to get the water off the street, there is no traffic jam and the fire engines can reach the burning buildings in time. So there will be no fire spreading.

    I am specifically working on a city for you to fix the traffic. I am almost done with it. I am not really using any mods, its mostly base game. I think I used two of the mods that come with the game, infinite soil and something else. I am only using 9 squares, have a population right now of 150,000. My traffic is at 66%. I wanted to make a challenge for you. Here are the rules to fixing the city, and see if you can do it. 1. Get the traffic into the green section. 2. You can delete roads and zoned areas. (if you are asked again to delete something it must stay, like schools, police, fire, healthcare, monuments, etc must stay where they are) 3. You can add any mods you want, unless they automatically fix something

    Another way to reduce the fire problem, could be to put a dedicated firehouse in every industrial zone. So firetruck don't get caught/cause traffic, and the fires get put off more quickly
