No matter what variety it is, I've learned to appreciate each variety for their unique taste. I can't wait for my other varieties to finish ripe so that I can do other taste test so everyone can see which varieties will suit them best. 😁

    I really admire your passion with your dfs. I usually wait for my H. undatus fruit to crack open before I pick it and reach its max sweetness. It takes a full 11 days more to fully ripen than my H. costaricensis variety. Right now, I have 2-month old palora yellow seedlings and will be trying your grafting method soon. Cheers.

    Thank you Purong265 for your kind words. I’ve noticed that waiting 7-11 days after the dragon fruit has turn red will give it that sweetness that will taste perfect on these Vietnam white. If you graft your seedlings they will grow so so fast. Just make sure you use a well rooted rootstock. It will increase growth speed by 10x!

    Vietnamese Dragon Fruit needs to be picked early to ensure an acceptable product when shipped. Appearance is more important than taste at market. Tye at Spicy Exotics says extra ten days will boost brix for fruit. There is a lesson to be learned there for commercial growers.

  • @GraftingDragonFruit

    @GraftingDragonFruit

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Martin, that's correct. When you are a commercial grower, fruits are tend to picked unripe and when dragon fruits are picked early off the vine. They don't continue to ripe. It stops and you get this bland fruit that you buy in the markets. Each variety of dragon fruits ripe at different rates for Vietnam white specifically, it takes 41 days to fully ripe with highest brix content.

  • @GraftingDragonFruit

    @GraftingDragonFruit

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Cuong, if your dragon fruit is not sweet after 41-42 day of harvest since flower bloom. Then I recommend adding compost chicken fertilizer to your soil. When you see buds pop out from your branches. That's when I would put 2 inches of chicken fertilizer to the top base of my soil. Mix it in well with your existing soil and a few weeks later they will be feeding off the chicken manure. Dragon fruits love chicken manure and thrive very well with it. In return all that nutrients they get from the fertilizer will turn your fruits to more sweeter dragon fruits.

I was watering too much and didn't fertilize them with anything. 4 years later, I've found that chicken manure really gives that sweetness boost to the fruits when you fertilize them with it.
