Vietnam's Amputee Tribe - Why Nung People Smoke Human Body Parts
Ғылым және технология
Explore the mysterious and haunting traditions of Vietnam's Nhum tribe in this eye-opening journey. We go deep into the remote northern mountains where cultural beliefs and survival practices intertwine in unexpected ways. Discover why this isolated community preserves amputated limbs through smoking, a practice that ensures they remain whole in the afterlife. Meet Mr. Đương, who has preserved his leg after an infection, and Anh Van, who struggles with the emotional burden of keeping his arm after a traumatic accident. Witness the profound significance of smoking meat in their daily lives and rituals. Join me as I uncover the layers of this controversial tradition, revealing its deep spiritual roots and its impact on the Nhum people's identity and well-being.

I read the title wrong thinking that everyone in this village deliberately amputated their legs just to smoke it like tobacco 😂😂

Talking about the smell of a dissecated limb whilst eating jerky in the same video and comparing their smoking of jerkies with the smoking of limbs.
Please keep original voices and run subtitles. Do not do dubs it really removes the audience from immersing fully. And thank you for such a great content, its amazing to see such variety in cultures from such a small region!

It’s not surprising at all, they’re just mummies. Many corpses in cold areas can be preserved for hundreds of years, and people are happy to do so. The corpses stay with them just like living people.

Hey Andy, Saving the body parts reminded me of a documentary I saw years ago. It was about the forbidden city in China. Every servant of the emperor was castrated but they got to keep their "Twig and Berries" in a box and they were buried with them to be whole in the after life. I hope I don't need my appendix to get into Heaven 🤣✝️

Wow, that’s crazy! Actually, most of these northern minorities were originally from China many many centuries ago but were pushed out. I wonder if there is a connection there. It could be a far more common belief than I realized.

@@Andrew_Fraser The yellow people were originally in a very small area in East Asia and were constantly driven out. Taiwan was also driven out, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Myanmar were all driven out. The time was different, but the method was the same. It seems that you have realized this. One thing, preserving human bodies is a hobby of yellow people. The corpses of Mao Zedong, Hu Zhiming, Chiang Kai-shek and others were also preserved like the people in your film. The difference is that you can't interview and observe with the body

@@Andrew_Fraser The Chinese have always believed that human flesh is the best food and medicine. They still like to eat certain parts of the human body. In ancient times, they often ate human flesh. The yellow race people like to eat human flesh. This is a racial characteristic. The American people continued to eat it until the European colonial war.
Suddenly hungry for some beef jerky
I thought they all had a culture about cutting of body parts and eating the smoked body part. Which sounded widely unpractical and like the worst case of cultural body modification I'd ever heard of. This was quite a bit short of that...
This gives 'smoking your ops' a whole new meaning! 😂
Cada día aprende uno más de ser humano
My grandmother wanted to keep her foot to be buried with it but they just incinerated it they don’t let people keep their parts in the west.
Oh my god this is shocking 😱😯 I would have nightmares

12:09 oh scary seeing this. I need to go to sleep soon. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Memories a raw, yet the arm is not.
we smoke a lot of meat in my tribe, so when I read the title, I knew that it was smoke as in preserving and drying meat via smoke produced over open fire. Never realised that it reads like you're smoking the leg . lel.
It''s repulsing and interessting at the same time.
The title feels misleading.
omg. i almost barf when I read the title people smoke human body parts and then the guy marinating red meat.
G’day mate
if it works for them, then so be it! who am I to say that it is wrong!
What? I’m a Vietnamese and this is the first time I hear this cuisine
Aint no way bro smelled the leg
Next time someone offers you some smoked beef jerky, ask for a bowl of rice with water. Best way to eat smoked meats.

that meat is like proper biltong, not that road kill you americans called jerky
"Vietnam's Amputee Tribe - Why Nung People Smoke Human Body Parts" I really thought they are gonna smoke limbs like weed . ... xD
Smoke meats with smoke limbs 😂 damn. . Im curious to know what we hmongs called this tribes
At least, they don't eat the missing limb to make it grow again... 😂😂😂
So land mines would be a real sticky wicket
I thought they were turning the limbs into a bong
I believe 🙏🐉🙏
They probably think the body needs to be all present for proper reincarnation.
People Around The World Have Their Cultures, Not Many Left Though, It Doesn't Seem Fair And They Should Continue To Live As Their Ancestors Did, But The Younger Generation Is Changing And Probably Won't Be Of Any Help To Them, I Have To Admit Before Showing The Video I Presumed They Were Smoking Them Literally, Thank You For Sharing!
