Ha Long Bay, in northeastern Vietnam, is a Unesco World Heritage site famous for its spectacular limestone karsts, or rocky outcrops. But the area is now facing a plastic-pollution crisis. Authorities have ordered a team of workers to clean up the floating waste from the bay to try and restore the damaged environment.

I'm from Ha Long Bay, the last time I was there to visit my friend's oyster farm and I saw him throwing trash in the water, I was not happy about it so I gave him my thoughts but later that day he did it again. He said it's just so normal there and that's the real problem they need to fix. Vietnam has a bad littering culture and it needs a lot of work to change. It's been getting better but it's not enough.

I am born in Da Nang. I lived most of my time in the US, I was absolutely amazed about the trash situation in Vietnam. Not much has changed since my youth. And it's the people there. They just don't care about anything but the money to live from day to day. The rate of higher education in Vietnam is atrocious. The current bunch of government just don't care much about the country but how to get rich. It's sad. My first trip back changed my thoughts about retiring in Vietnam. They have problems.

I have been there in 2022. Hanoi, Ha Long and Ninh Binh are beautiful places. But the trash tourist threw everywhere make them look bad. But I still want to visit there again one day, love them ❤

More strict government regulation is needed. Enforce the very minor details of boating in the waterways and the bigger issues like polluting will not develop.

For years, US, Canada and most European countries send their plastic trash to Asian countries on the pretext for recycling. In truth, they’re just dumping their trash on poorer countries. In the past, shipments of plastics were shipped to China, Indonesia, Philippines....most chemical toxic waste were shipped to China ... Now China and Indonesia have stopped taking these plastic trash...so trash were sent to Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar...

At least the Indian government is aware of the problem of plastic waste pollution and has taken action to solve it. I saw a video about a beach in India where nearby people ran to the beach to take a dump, causing the beach to be littered with garbage and a foul smell. When tourists criticize and protest, Indians and the Indian government respond that it is part of our culture. I am simply speechless.

when i was in VN I’ve always had a hard time finding a trash bin, even at local restaurants….even if you wanted to throw the trash in a bin, there isn’t any around….so the solution is think is to have more trash bins accessible and more trash collection days 😂

Hey man. It's with a heavy heart that I share my residence in the United States, where the prevailing condition is utterly disheartening and fills me with so much sorrow. Today, my younger sibling, who attends elementary school, got blasted in his face. My father, who has a chronic illness, lacks the financial resources and access to healthcare and as a result, has developed a dependence on fentanyl. Adding to the desperation, my poor dear loving mother is compelled to engage in prostitution daily just to provide a meal for our family. She is very talented and very hard working, you can find her on the front page of thousands of 🌽 sites. These circumstances have led us to be homeless, forcing us to live on the streets, completely exposed to the cold pavement. The fear of potential mass shootings has paralyzed me to the extent that I'm too terrified to step outside our cardboard box shelter, fearing it might be my last move. If there were indeed another life, I genuinely desire to be born in any other country, in the hopes of finding a more promising existence.
