    🤣 I never forget the first time I got fresh horseradish. Opened my sinuses clear to the top of my head. Such a shock. Everyone but me new how potent it was. They laughed at me all night. Don't know about fish sauce in my boil, but I'm going to get some friends to look at this. We will have to try it.

    LOL, that's funny! That's about how it affected me at the restaurant. I wasn't expecting that at all. I was eating it, and crying at the same time haha! Don't worry about the fish sauce. You won't be able to distinguish it from the other ingredients, but it mainly brings out all of the flavors. More of a unami effect. Look for the Three Crabs brand if you use it. That is the best in my opinion. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!

    The only thing different than the way we boil them in Louisiana is that fish sauce, lemongrass, and ginger are not in the pot. I do throw in some celery sometimes cause I like celery. Sausage, corn on the cob cut in 3” type lengths, small red potatoes, onions, garlic cut in halves, bay leaves, and lemons are always in the pot. I’ve even seen green beans and oranges lately. We don’t do butter all over our crawfish but I can see that pairing well with crab and shrimp. I’ve had Vietnamese style crawfish in New Orleans and it’s pretty darn good. I prefer to use liquid crab boil to control the amount of salt for my high BP but that premix boil is easier for someone to replicate your recipe. One way or the other though when I use liquid crab boil I still have to add salt. Good job sir I’ll try this tomorrow before the Bama UGA championship game.

    Your boil recipe sounds identical to what I normally do as well. I've got quite a few videos up doing the straight up Louisiana boils. As much as I love the traditional way, I'm so glad that I tried this a year or so ago. Simply addicting to eat and everyone that has had it, just loves it. Thanks for watching, and enjoy if you do make this. Cheers!

    @@SmokyRibsBBQ It’s funny that I saw this on my KZread feed out of the blue. Yesterday I was telling my wife I wanted to learn this method of how to prepare the Vietnamese style crab, shrimp, and crawfish method. Just because it’s different doesn’t mean us Cajuns won’t like it. Trust me as much as we eat crawfish something different is a good thing. Good tasting is good tasting that’s all that matters. I do have a question. What was the lime leaf ingredient that you put in the butter? Note I said we don’t put butter on our crawfish. I’ll throw a stick or two in the pot if it’s late in the season to help hard shell ones peel easier.

    Hey Russ I’m down here on the gulf coast pretty much same area as you. I was wondering where you get your seafood from, looking for a few good markets. Just got my big seafood pot and getting ready to cook this year, looking for crawfish, blue crabs, gulf shrimp, and oysters.

    I have bought seafood from a few sources but I go to Desporte's in Biloxi for most of it. Often I will buy shrimp off the boats behind the Hard Rock Casino. I buy crawfish from Bozo's Seafood in Pascagoula. They have been in business the longest and usually deal in good crawfish out of Louisiana and competitive prices. Quality seafood is another place to get fresh seafood, but I don't care for the people running the place. They have came off pretty rude before. I much prefer Desportes and also Bozo's sells other seafood as well. Hope this helps.

    @@SmokyRibsBBQ thanks so much I’m over here in Mobile and a lot of our seafood seems to get brought in from Louisiana or Mississippi so with that prices seem higher from what I’ve seen in Mississippi and Louisiana. I’ll check those places don’t mind a small travel.

    Hi Russ Do you freeze and then spike your crabs first, so they are killed humanely?

  • @SmokyRibsBBQ

    @SmokyRibsBBQ

    2 жыл бұрын

    In this video at the beginning I snatched off the outer shell which kills the crab instantly, however, most of the time I cook the crabs whole, so I stunt them in ice which makes them go dormant. Then into boiling water which also kills them quickly. That's how I do it and will continue to do it.
