Guy Cihi, no question.

I like how the first two are comparing the opening dialogue to Silent Hill 2 and then the third is just James Sunderland being brutally murdered in various different ways

I hope they add the original voices as an option for the remake sort of how they did in the hd collection. But there is probably no guarantee.

The remake will be an entirely new script, though. A lot of the same or similar dialogue, but not entirely- the trailer alone already gave us a taste of it, with some identical dialogue but some variation on the original script. It wouldn’t be feasible to reuse the old voice acting, unlike how easy it was for the simple remaster where the script is 1:1 and the new voice actors were told to try and keep as close to the tempo of the original voices as possible.

guy cihi is the best fit for james naive nature in sh2. Sounds awkward and unassured, that's james should actually sounds like as he tried to forget who he really was.

I like how Luke says that damn disease, I think he’s gonna do great but that original guy (no pun intended lol) is really good, he sound very dead inside

Troy Baker is a good voice actor, obviously. Listening to his version of the monologue, you can say it’s good voice acting no question but it just doesn’t feel like James. He sounds too badass, or too much like Joel from TLOU. Luke Roberts sounds really promising though. He doesn’t have the strangeness of James that Guy Cihi brought, which is a shame, but he doesn’t sound like a badass either. He sounds like a broken man on his last legs.

Tbh I’d prefer Luke Roberts voice over Troy bakers voice

Honestly Tomm Hulett seems like the most similar to Cihi and yet he only had like 3 seconds of voicing him lol.

Guy is still the best. But Luke gave a good performance in trailer. Much better then Troy did

i mean, all things considered, his dead by daylight va is really good, lol

James' HD Voice sounds like an old aged James.

Something that a lot of people might not agree on is that I think Troy actually did a pretty good job mostly because he sounds depressed 90% of the time but overall guy chi is better, and he definitely has his moments in some parts of the game

I don't know about that. The directors intentionally wanted guy to sound awkward for the character James. It's why even though the voice acting might come off as not having aged well, it definitely keeps it grounded and it's exactly how people would speak in real life. Despite Troy baker being a more experienced actor, he disregarded what made the original James sound so good, and instead came off as this unnaturally confident guy rather than an awkward individual. This change isn't exclusive to James, either, as the entire cast was replaced with new actors. And keep in mind that the original cast actually did the performance capture, meaning they actually acted in the cutscenes. The new cast only did the voiceover, no performance was done.

Definitely Guy Cihi. The way that he was able to convey this "broken emptiness" through is voice is unmatched. While, there is no denying that Troy Baker is a fantastic voice actor and one of the greats, he feels somewhat miscast in this role. While not as good as Cihi, I will say that Luke Roberts definitely does sound like a better pick to play James Sunderland than Troy Baker. I'm curious to see how he will fair in the upcoming remake.

I preferred guy chis original performance like everyone else, but he isnt back for good reason apparently he burnt his bridge with konami during the hd collection, they wanted to hire him again but he kept trashing the company and demanding residuals, which wasnt something done back then, and is incredibly rare even today so a voice actor with no experience trying to hustle Konami wasnt going to fly, but even after that there's good reason he only did james voice and nothing else, hes known as a psycho who nobody wants to work with. I love sh2 and the original style of James but guy chi is who you blame for the recast not konami they tryed to work with him but he ruined his career

You didn’t show enough from James dorton. He perfectly incapsulates the hopeless and fear of James Sunderland

Getting Joel to be James Sunderland is just the most stupid thing. Idk what they were thinking, but Troy Baker wasn't born for the role of a late 20y old men trying to find his wife and sounds desperate. Troy baker has a voice that sounds like way to much heavy and slow to be a character who act like james

A lot of the og voice actors should be cast in any remakes really. … just like the re4 remake. I would of sooo prefered it if they kept the original voice actors

1. Cihi (Gentle yet stunted and confused) 2. Hullett (The most similar voice to Cihi that isn’t Cihi) 3. Roberts (Neither gentle nor badass, just broken. I have faith in him) 4. Baker (A more experienced voice actor that unfortunately misses the purpose of Cihi’s voice) 5. Dorton (literally just screaming, how am i supposed to judge)

Nothing beats the vulnerability and weakness of OG James, everyone else is a pretender including the new remake version

Something something Konami being sn!tty something something trump...also guy isnt really a voice actor i think he said when he got cast he had done voice performance before but not really for games even though a lot of his performance in Silent Hill was good he does some a bit goofy sometime and the gaming industry isnt what it use to be they are looking for more professionals i would really like him to come back but its very unliky. (Well the gaming in the street isn't doing so hot right now)
