Video Game Arcade Tours - Golden Palm Resort Amusements (Chapel St. Leonards, UK)

Ойындар

This arcade deserves an honorable mention! It's stacked with video games, which I'm assuming is because it's a holiday resort with lots of child-based traffic lol. They have Dance Dance Revolution Ace (OFFLINE)!
Many of the arcades in the UK (Mainly seaside arcades) are called Amusement Arcades. They are typically packed with redemption-based machines with very few video games (As video games simply do not make money). I have placed the word "Amusements" in the title for these types of places as they are not true Video Game Arcades, but deserve some sort of mention. As gambling is legal in the UK, they tend to include fruit machines (aka slot machines) and various other things money-making games, so video games really take a back seat in places like these. They also really hate filming, I'm not sure why because it's free advertising, unless dodgy things are taking place lol

An amusement arcade (often referred to as "video arcade" or simply "arcade") is a venue where people play arcade games such as video games, pinball machines, electro-mechanical games, redemption games, merchandisers (such as claw cranes), or coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables. In some countries, some types of arcades are also legally permitted to provide gambling machines such as slot machines or pachinko machines. Games are usually housed in cabinets. The term used for ancestors of these venues in the beginning of the 20th century was penny arcades.Video games were introduced in amusement arcades in the late 1970s and were most popular during the golden age of arcade video games, the early 1980s. Arcades became popular with children and particularly adolescents, which led parents to be concerned that video game playing might cause them to skip school.

It used to be so much better in that arcade twenty plus years ago when I was a youngster. I remember playing Double Dragon and WWF wrestlefest in there.

The strangest thing is, the Golden Palm Resort arcade looks almost identical to Fantasy Island's main amusement arcade area.....

@@s34nvideos Before the main amusement arcade area at Fantasy Island was refurbished in 2017, it was very much identical to Golden Palm Resort's arcade with it's bright colours. Although the design lineage at Fantasy Island's main amusement arcade area is still the same, the tone of it looks much darker now and there's new attractions in it such as 10 Pin Bowling, a new bar area, a new arcade till area with ticket prizes, not to mention that all of the arcades (apart from the over 18's gambling area and the money winning bingo arcades) are all part of the i-Card system now, and the tickets actually load onto your i-Card.

I assume we're taking about Skegness as I have asked twice, but you haven't confirmed. I assume the main arcade in FI is the arcade opposite the pier, across the mini car park, again, in Skegness. It used to have a DS Fusion, but recently, went hardcore redemption. You can barely find a video game in there and it sucks now. Yeh, I know that arcade, but again, I do not see the similarities with Golden Palm. Either way, chances are it's either owned by the same company, or, the same contractor does the carpets and decor.
