Video compression is a hard topic .... A powerpoint presentation (With a lot of still frames?) you can compress a lot, compared to a video with a lot of scenes and vivid colors :)

all the other videos i've found take 12 minutes to introduce all the extra features in detail but its nice to have a tutorial like this one, fast and to the point.

I would like to say that if you are uploading gameplay using handbrake might not be a good idea, I have messed with all the settings, put it to the highest quality etc, but when I compare it to my video before compressing it there is a very visible blockiness to the video handbrake had compressed, and then once you upload it to youtube it is compressed again. Of course this won't affect much if you're doing mostly desktop videos but it's something to consider if you're uploading gameplay

I shot a video in 4k (25p 100) in dimensions 16:9 and in the editing software I turned it to 9:16 so that it fits Tiktok. How do I shrink it to fit WhatsApp, that is, up to 64 mb without harming its quality because it seems to come out "smeared" in WhatsApp? Thanks

You may have to try different settings on the slider to get the result you want. You can also choose to set the bitrate - the other option to change file size to your preferred size, but it takes a little bit of work to do the math for the conversion. It also takes about twice as long for the video encode on double passthrough.

The original file used in this was 5 gigs - I think he said. then it became less than 1/2 gig. My original file was 80 MB I followed the video and put the settings exactly as shown here and my final result was 63 MB and I need it to be less than 50 MB. My reduction was so much less than what happened in this video. I do not understand why the results I got were nowhere close to this successful in the amount of reduction. I have no idea how to change settings in handbrake to get a different results. I just followed the ones shown here. Which got way better results in this video than in mine.

You might need to further adjust the parameters/options. Possibly choose a lower bitrate or a lower constant quality. You will just need to mess around and see what works best for you. Hand Break has a preview mode so you can see if you like the quality before encoding the entire video.

@@uhannes For movies I set Preset: to Production Standard, Video Encoder: set to H264 (x264) (Framerate FPS): set to 23.98, Constant Quality: set at 22, Encoder Preset: set to very slow, Filters settings, Denoise: set to hqdn3d, Preset: set to custom, Custom: code is y-spatial=10:cb-spatial=10:cr-spatial=10:y-temporal=7:cb-temporal=7:cr-temporal=7 Sharpen Preset: set to Medium, Tune: set to None. For all the other filters I leave them set to off. I recommend upscale video with WinX VideoProc first, then use Handbrake afterwards. The quality of the videos comes out very good every time. Saves a lot of time vs using Video AI software.

Yeah, I stopped watching when I saw that the example file he used was an effing PowerPoint presentation. Nothing much happens on Powerpoint slides, it's literally a slideshow, there is basically no movement or animation involved, of course it is easy to reduce the size of something like that in a video. If you have lots of stuff happening in an actual movie, it's almost impossible to reach such a reduction (well, without losing a TON of quality in the process).

Uhh theres more to it than this dont waste your time adjust it more for compression
