Video captures officer walking into 7-Eleven during armed robbery

Cameras capture the moment a police officer unknowingly walks into a 7-Eleven as an armed robbery is taking place. The incident happened on Jan. 17 at a 7-Eleven convenience store near the corner of a busy intersection in West Covina.
West Covina Sergeant Abel Hernandez, who is a frequent customer of that 7-Eleven, is seen walking in to buy some water and to say hello to the clerk. Little did he know, he was walking straight into an active robbery.
KTLA's Chris Wolfe reports on Jan. 19, 2024.

@Change_Thinking2024 The justice system has become far too lenient. Sure, first time offence, minor crime, you should be granted bail. WE all make mistakes and occasionally do stupid things. That's part of being human. In Canada it has become a revolving door. The new conservative platform is "Jail not bail" for dangerous repeat offenders. Committing armed robbery with a loaded firearm? That's really pushing the limits of bail release.

I don't work in one but I'm always on the lookout for a better opportunity in terms of extra employment. But I also like to work and I'm trying to find a good combination of jobs I'm comfortable with and that will fill my schedule up 6 days a week with Saturday being my only non-work day as it's the Sabbath. Currently I have UPS from 4am-9/10-am. Then Sonic for the rest of the day, maybe. Sometimes I only get 2 days out of Sonic and less than 5 hours on each of those days which still leave me with idle hands for a good majority of the week. I need more work. At the end of the day a job is a job and the bills have to be paid. Besides most employees in these stores never experience a robbery or any sort. Most.

Genuine concern here for those who are “correcting” his tour in Iraq. Hopefully those who are and whom think this way are not American. It should be obvious that war is a sin committed by its leaders. The pawns they order are not guilty, if they were to disobey they would be imprisoned and dishonored. So why take away the credit of this man’s bravery because you disagree with the politics of the war he HAD TO FIGHT for America’s leaders interests and that reason alone. I bet 1000 dollars if a lady was being assaulted at night and you saw it happen, he would run to help her and eliminate the threat before you even had time to dial 911. Those of whom that have this mindset to discredit a hero behind a keyboard are some sad individuals.

It's 7-eleven policy to give the cops free fountain drinks, slurpees and coffees. It their way to make sure they have security since they won't hire someone else to do it and they only keep one night shift person on staff ever. They don't care about their employees or the cops, they just care about money. That clerk is getting in trouble right now for having to much in their draw that late at night, policy is no more then 100 bucks, and if you are robbed for anything over 200 you have to pay the amount out of your paycheck. So getting taken for 400 that clerk would lose 200 out of their next paycheck and im sure they are lucky if they even make that in one check.
