that boncy what you called flimsy is there on purpose for shock and vibration absorbation since the speakers are built in. I woiuld be worried if it wasn't bouncy .

Thanks for a good, fair look at one of the "cheapo" style players. They have their place, like in a kids bedroom as a first player. Gotta say man- you dated yourself with the VCR reference! lol!

6:10. The noise: It's the record scraping against the stationary 45 adapter. Not well designed.

Yep - the adapter is stuck in place and can't rotate 🫣

The "plinth" is supposed to have some give for absorbing vibration.

Is it supposed to be super quiet?

Yes. Any decent record player should operate nearly silently.

It sounds like your belt is not correctly installed and it’s supposed to move like that it’s to dampen vibrations and also you didn’t mention the fact that it is a monophonic player and to get stereophonic sound you’ll have to use headphones or connect to an external system. It only has one speaker but also has a passive bass radiator on the bottom hence the better sounding bass. If you upgrade the needle and grease the spindle plus oil the motor it can actually sound very good.

That’s fair, but I’d argue that’s a lot of work to ask the average person to do to get a pretty cheap (sub $100) portable record player to sound optimal.

You are also sitting the tonearm down on its hook. That should be pushed off to the right. Rookie mistake.

If you are just starting out, this turntable might be for you, but I can hardly see experienced vinyl nerds buying this turntable. The cartridge alone is pure torture for your records.
