Victory Vegas "Review" - There is Victory in Death!!!

You either die a hero or live long enough to become just another American motorcycle brand making V-Twin cruisers.
I've never rode an Indian and only have one and a half Harleys under my belt (long story).
There is Victory in Death, and I'm happy to say that I understand that one guy at bike night with the strange, futuristic bagger that says, "best bike I ever had".
Thank you for watching!!!

    Thanks for the great Vegas video Dave. I ride a 2008 Victory Vision Tour Premium. It was a luxury liner when originally built and still today turns heads and I often get, "Hey man is that a new Indian?" as it was SO futuristic looking back in 2008. You either loved it or hated it! Most people thought it was ugly! Once you ride a Vision though... you will forever be wanting one of your own. It is by far the most reliable, comfortable and versatile bikes I have ridden. In ten minutes it can be transformed from a big old touring bike to a custom looking cruiser just by removing the trunk! And the removal is quick and easy. Best part is there are 15 yr old visions still running with over 200,000 miles! (and they are ridden miles not garage queens or bikes that need lots of repairing.) If you want a big ol' 106 / 1732cc twisties bike the vision will impress you,... (It really is a sport bike that tours! laugh out loud) as it has about 32 degrees of lean angle. Oh man, permanent smiles in the twisties! I would love to see you do a review of the VICTORY VISION TOUR or VICTORY VISON STREET(without trunk) Keep up the good work Dave

    All my bikes are blue so my XC is 'Big Blue', the JP is 'Little Blue', and the dirt bike is just 'dirt bike' or 'DRZ'. If Victory had not invested in the Indian brand name, Victory would still be in production. Motorcycles in general are just not selling like they used to so the market gets saturated.

  • @StrayAwayDave

    @StrayAwayDave

    2 ай бұрын

    I can appreciate blue being a constant in your stable. Are you a crip by chance? JK If there is a timeline where Victory and Indian coexisted then that’s where I wanna go. I’ve only rode one bike of each American motorcycle brand (Harley, Indian, and Victory) and I can find qualities that I like and dislike in them. Victory’s biggest con to me is that they no longer make bikes. Polaris is the one to blame. The slingshot is dumb and folks should just buy a Miata instead.

    Victory never had the dealer network to really build a name and compete in the cruiser market. They just couldn't get a big foothold, even with bringing Arlen Ness in to style the bikes. When parent company Polaris bought the Indian name, they put all of their work into building a new line of Indian bikes, and really had no choice in dropping Victory. But for those Victory fans, the Indian Challenger is built on the last design of Victory's new engine, it's water cooled design which was shelved until Indian could build their line. So some of Victory is still around, and still beating Harleys out on the road.

  • @StrayAwayDave

    @StrayAwayDave

    I never cared about Victory until now. Doing the research, it’s easy to see how they ended up going out and it’s understandable. People love heritage. I just wish they were able to keep goin alongside Indian and Harley to maybe shake up the American market. The FTR is a good start from Indian and Buell is trying to make a comeback, so at least there’s some progression.

  • @Oldbmwr100rs

    @Oldbmwr100rs

    Oh god, Buell..I knew a few people who bought those back in the HD deal days, and none of them stayed together, then he went independent and hasn't been able to keep anything going for more then a short while. The 1190 is one of the lightest bikes though, it's pretty nice, but i don't like the way any of the buells rode or handled, They're very twitchy and not very stable. The idea of removing most of the rake and trail to make the steering lighter sounds good, but makes for an unstable bike. @@StrayAwayDave

( I have owned forty bikes since 1971) Today, I just traded my very clean and amazing VMAX 1200 for a 2011 Vegas. Now, I have two Vics. As far as being worried that there might not be any parts and service available, these things are so reliable that I believe 100k+ is very possible. I do my own basic service. Pretty easy to get along with. The one good thing about Victory closing is it made the bike less expensive to buy. The bad thing is the value plummeted for those who own them. I’ve got Cross Country and came off a supermoto previous to that. So I like different. I think people who own or have owned a Victory, love them. Indian is direct result of everything they learned with Victory, but lacks the style imo. The Cross Country concepts back 2017 where water cooled and have many similarities to the current Challenger. Thats my beef with Indian is that the design is just playing it safe and somewhat boring, especially the air cooled ones. Victory’s stand out in a sea of cruisers that even the Japanese cruisers can’t do. Also in a time when HD only advertised torque and made 65-70hp stock, the Victory’s were making 85-90hp stock at the wheel. Heck, many of the steel frame bikes like the Vegas look like a “custom” bike in a sea of HD’s. There’s a lot of things to love about Victory, but sadly Polaris pulled rug unexpectedly in less than year before production ended.

  • @StrayAwayDave

    @StrayAwayDave

    Indian definitely goes for the “heritage” or “classic” looks while trying to be more modern. I can appreciate it but I’d like to see them so fully into the modern aspect more. The FTR is a prime example of going that way. Harley will do what Harley wants and they’ll be around long enough to do it. Victory just seemed to stand on their own and we’re unapologetic about it. But it’s better to die a hero than live long enough to become part of the crowd.

    @@StrayAwayDave very well said. The Challenger/Pursuit is the most appealing to me for any cruiser. But it offers nothing more than my 2012 XC other than a screen with navigation, my phone does that. But it doesn’t have the attitude my XC does despite it being a 12yr old design. I know the shortfalls of having an “obsolete” bike, but it’s fun and turns heads. The power band of 106 and 100 is amazing! Especially with a set of cams and a tune. Just keeps pulling as long as your above 2500rpm.

    Been riding Vics for 10 years. Have a 13 Judge and a 17 Vegas. A couple of downers, though. Fuel filler cap in the center of the tank and opens forward, means you have to hold the pump seal up to fill the tank. Vic engines are hard mounted so you get a lot of engine feel. They're not smooth. On the Vegas, the 21-inch front tire really beats you up on all but the smoothest roads.

    @@StrayAwayDave Well there was the Stryker in between, but I never rode that one. Brother had a Road Star Warrior for a little while and I got some runs in on that. The engine was rather buzzy compared to the bigger Raider, which was butter smooth.

    @lifted_above I may getting the two mixed up. I’d love a go at either of them honestly. I rode my dads V Star 1300 a long time ago and I remember it being a ripper

    Victory octane owner here, I like the Vegas and I want a magnum but don’t have any plans to get rid of the octane. What gloves are you wearing, I like the open finger tips?

    Had to look up the magnum. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one before, but I DO like the octane. I wear the Joe Rocket Mercury gloves. Mine are only fingerless because they’re worn out after heavy use lol. I recommend them tho, very stylish.

    Harley and Indian are overrated, and Victory is Underrated, go figure. 7:00 pure sexy bike ! 12:30 how would you compare the Victory to a Vulcan 900, or 1500 ? Forget Harley, they're out of the picture to me.

    I’ve never ridden a Vulcan 1500 but I have owned a 900 classic. The victory would blow it out of the water performance wise. Looks are subjective and I think both look great in different ways with the victory being more of a style I like.

    I’ve got a 2015 Vegas 8ball with a Memphis bat wing fairing, 4” forward controls, bad ass mustand seat and 9” shorty mufflers on it. I love riding it. Damm shame they quit building them. I own a 2015 ultra classic also and my victory has just as good a ride as it does.
