Hello René, I just want to confirm that the material is Carey, it comes from the shell of the Sea Turtle "Carey". In the 60's and 70's was popular to do jewelry and personal items with that material ( like combs, earrings, rings, hair accessories, etc. ). That mode almost took the Carey Turtle to total extinction. I have seen a couple of that Victirinox knifes for sale at the collectors store in Mexico ( www.lanavajeria.com ). Hope that helps amigo. Hi Renee. Check out page 30 of the 1942 Elsener Catalog. Looks like it could be model 70/1: www.sakwiki.com/tiki-browse_gallery.php?galleryId=115 According to the "Swiss Army Knife Owner's Manual" by Michael Young, Victorinox replaced celluloid scales (which were prone to "gass off" and decompose) with cellulose acetate butyrate in 1938.

Delrin ist ein Kunststoff für den DuPont erstmals 1956 ein Produktionspatent erhielt,Schrade USA hat an allen Messern Delrin Griffschalen, man kann es wie Hirschhorn aussehen lassen oder aber auch wie Schildpatt, also vieles ist möglich, deshalb dachte ich es könnte auch an Deinem Messer Delrin sein,es wird auch in der Industrie genutzt um verschleissarme Kunststoffteile herzustellen,LG Christoph

Hi zusammen. Ich denke die Griffschalen sind tatsächlich aus Schildplatt. Ich habe ähnliche Victorinox Messer die auch mit Schildplattgriffschalen versehen sind. Grüße Heiko
