Heya! Thanks for the in-depth look at your Handyman. I own and use the Craftsman which is the same as yours but with a Phillips driver instead of the cork screw. Great multi tool I agree. I just subbed your channel and it looks like you are new to this community like I am. Welcome and I look forward to more videos.

Im opting for the pliers because it a perfect little tool for changing guitar strings. Cut excess string length, pull pegs from your acoustic. DECENT.

I have both the Huntsman and the Handyman. I love all the functions on it. The most important tool for me is the can opener. I’m thinking about getting a smallest possible one just with the can opener and a blade.

Great video thanks. Great knife. I EDC the Handyman hanging off my belt into my pocket. Do not even know it is there till I need it. Plus I carry the midnite mini Champ with the pen and light in my little fifth pocket on my pants. I had started to EDC with the Champion Plus SAK but it does not have plyers. And so I got the Handyman but missed the magnifying glass so carried both. Then I missed not having the CyberTool so I bought the CyberTool M. I bought a big sheath that carried the Champion Plus SAK and the CyberTool M together on my belt. With Handyman hanging in my pocket so I would have two plyers that I could have one in each hand to tie paracord knots super tight. All three knives are thick but still comfortable in the hand & not to big. Then I wanted the alox Harvester for the hook knife and in-line reamer awl. Plus the knife is small, good for whittling, and has no key ring that could be uncomfortable. Then I needed the SAK Skipper for a locking serrated blade and locking cap lifter plus the all important Malin spike with shackle key wrench to untying those tight paracord knots. But I finally went ahead and bought the Swiss Champ XLT as then I would have the electrician blade and the all important pharmaceutical spatula / coffee stirring thingkabob that I have always needed but did not know. So I am now EDC on my belt the Swiss Champ XLT and the Handyman hanging in my pocket plus Midnite Mini Champ. This works. Everything else I EDC in my backpack with my Leatherman Rebar, which I haven't used yet, & my new SAK RangerGrip 79 that is coming in the mail. You can never be to prepared. It may be possible to have to many SAK's but I do not believe that as they are to fun.

Hell yeah man! I like your gear! And man do I tell ya, for me the Rangergrip 79 has to be my absolute favorite EDC! I carry both my Rangergrip 79 and my Handyman in 2 separate sheaths on my belt. For some people 2 sheaths maybe overkill but hey, the point is to be prepared for whatever the day throws at ya am I right? Plus I hardly know they are there like you said. And yeah man I agree. You can never have enough Swiss Army Knives! 😂🤝 I might make a personal EDC Review tomorrow so stay tuned! That is if my lazy ass doesn’t oversleep! 🙄😂 Im glad you liked the video my friend! Thank you very much! 🤝 I really hope you enjoy your new Rangergrip 79 as much as I enjoy it!

@typicalchris5153 thanks for replying. I do like my ranger grip 79 a lot. Awesome big saw and big locking blade. I can only carry it when I am doing recreational activities or for work as the blade is over 3" and not legal to edc in my town. But I carry a 3" locking blade the Cold Steel Mini Recon that is tough with its Triad lock. Plus my Handyman SAK saw is big enough for in town use. Other wise I would have my RangerGrip 79 and my Skipper SAK'S EDC with me also. Tempted to brake the long RangerGrip 79 blade so it was 3" or less to legally EDC and then buy another with full size blade for camping. I got the RangerGrip 79 mainly for the saw as I have not found a small light weight saw that is around 4"-5" long to EDC yet. Looking in to making a 4"-5" pocket saw possibly out of a saw blade that would have a blade cover that came off and would slide over the short handle so I could get a full grip. Seen one using a reciprocating saw blade and metal pipe for a blade cover and handle. But mine will more likely be a 6" Sawzall blade with 5" exposed cutting blade and last inch covered with Gorilla duct tape that a plastic cover would work for the rest of the handle when it is not used to cover the blade. All just to have a EDC saw that is cheap, pocket friendly, light and big enough to carry. I do not need it but it would be fun to make and have around town.

Good video ! i like the Handyman and a few months before i was deciding if buy a Handyman or a Ranger ( the Ranger has not pliers ). Finally i got the Ranger because the pliers are to heavy and they are not very useful . But good review bro !

They're good as far as small pliers go, better than the ones on the Leatherman Squirt or Gerber Dime because you have more reach, control and leverage. But Ranger plus something like the Knipex Cobra XS is maybe a better EDC.

  • @TheDarkSkorpion

Yeah, I, too, chose the handyman because the other tools on the champ aren't that useful to me (even that phillips screwdriver, the can opener or end of the saw usually work just fine). That file/saw is made for metal, although I wouldn't use it for hardened steel. Some people think the pliers are useless because they're not as beefy as a Leatherman, but I really like them. If I need heavy duty pliers, I'll have pliers or a larger multitool with me. Those pliers are precision! You can pull individual hairs with them, they make the tweezers redundant. As a result, I sharpened the tweezers so I have pointed tweezers to dig out a splinter if I need to. The little notches on the plier handles are for crimping. Also, you didn't mention the hole for a straight pin (also not included) in the red plastic by the base of the corkscrew. I wish it came with the corkscrew mini screwdriver. The chisel is, in my opinion, the most useless tool on this knife, mainly because of it's placement. Some don't like the awl, but I won't have a multitool without one.

True, the pliers are not worse, just different. Being small and precise is a quality of its own. Just recently i used them to repair one of my wife's earrings.

A Handyman, you don't need a magnifying glass or a fish descaler ? How about that in line Phillips? As a Handyman a in line Phillips would be very ' handy ' ? However with a small mod the can opener can be moded into a improved can opner a good 2.5mm flat screwdriver with usable reach and a great Phillips. See some of my video's as example : Victorinox Spartan all Blue . : Victorinox Angler Black plus scales, and modification. : Victorinox explorer, huntsman, farmer, climber, screwdriver can opener mod.

Great video, one question, I currently use a Hiker, but I want to upgrade. So I'm trying to decide between the Handyman or Huntsman, and I'm not sure if the handyman is too big, or heavy for EDC in the front pockets. Any thoughts since you have both?

So it depends, if you’re more of the minimalist and you want just your basic needs when you’re out doing your daily things I’d go for the huntsman because it’s light and simple and feels pretty sturdy in the palm of your hand! But if you’re like me (Maximalist), and you want something that packs a punch when you’re out and about i’d go with the handyman, it’s basically a mini tool kit in your pocket and you’ll find a use for almost all of its components! I’ve put it in my pocket a couple times and I hardly feel the weight but I don’t know everybody is different! 🤷‍♂️😂 great question my friend appreciate you asking! 😎👍

I like the toolset here, especially for the pliers… but I don’t know how it can justify calling itself “the Handyman” without a proper phillips head screwdriver 🤷🏻‍♂️ but if it did have one, it would basically be a SwissChamp, just missing the fish scaler… but I wish they had more options, like perhaps one with the new package opener in place of the can opener for more urban usage, the fish scaler in place of the saw for fishing, etc.

It has a flat head screwdriver, and as you may know, a flat head can unscrew a phillips head screw, but a phillips head screwdriver can never unscrew a flat head.

@@ethanmoua49 - but I wouldn’t want to remove any of the flatheads… the flathead on the can/package opener works decently well on phillips head screws, but I still prefer the in-line phillips driver to any alternatives currently available on the classic Victorinox SAKs.
