I think once every 2 years like the Ashes would be good. - Protect the best players from injury - Builds more suspense than if it was annual - Every year people would get tired of it. - Gives younger players a chance to get to the skill level to play in the game - Cheaper for the AFL to put the game on

I was shocked when I realised that this game was played this year. There's things from 2008 that feel more recent than this game in my mind

Wasn't even that competitive. It was all bruise-free rubbish with players just staying out of each other's way to give it the illusion of end to end footy

Huddo and BT the future of Friday Night Footy boy it feels like the NBA All Star Game, the AFL should do this every 2 years and add in the 50m contest (two 50m stations and one 60m station from the top

High Ex: so like the NBA 3pt Contest, there are 6 contestants, there are 5 stations across the arc (each station has 5 balls, 4 normal stations and 1 station with *money* balls) {60secs} My idea was we do something similar, there are 5 teams/contestants, there are 3 stations across the 50m arc (each station has 4 balls, 2 normal stations [at where the number 50 is painted] and 1 station in the middle (60m) with *money* balls [make it 9pts a goal and 3pts a behind] {120 secs} Each team has 2 players and they alternate taking kicks: Eg - RICH (B. Houli & J. Short) CARL (C. Curnow & r.warnock) GEEL (Z. Touhy & T. Hawkins)

He'll get there eventually. He wanted to leave Sydney but they wouldn't let him go because he's still a contracted player. Players who state that they want to play for a particular club usually get there in the end.

As a west Aussie I think that’s a terrible idea, if a coalition of non-vic states combined couldn’t beat Victoria then how can how can a stand alone WA/SA or allies manage to be competitive. A two team series like in the nrl is the way.

We had the Victoria V Dream Team in 2008, and this in 2020. I say do it every 10 years.

Gee the handball in this game was classy. These players have great spatial awareness and know where their teammates are.

I still remember Fev in this game ages ago, so many legends.

So glad I went to that great atmosphere as well

I found it pretty boring to watch. There wasn't any proper intensity, just players avoiding touching each other to make it look like end to end footy

Seeing huddo on channel 7 took me back to when he used to commentate on channel 10

Great times with him, Quarters, Tim Lane (the greatest analyst ofthe game), Blighty and even Andy Maher one the hosts on The Front Bar was a boundary commentary for a while for Channel 10. I will always remember Saturday afternoons coming back from Auskick and watching the Holy Grail intro.

I went, atmosphere was awesome!

What a turnaround by the Big V! Trailing hopelessly for much of the match and they have won by almost 8 goals. They even turned the scoring shots in their favour by the finish, and they trailed even more hopelessly in that department than any points score that they trailed by at any time during the match.

With all the COVID-19 restrictions right now, it's awesome to see the crowd in this.

It seemed very old fashioned. Get the ball, kick it forward, score. It was very little structured and very fast paced and that’s why I enjoyed so much

Nice Video this is a great one I was at this game cheering on the Victoria because they come back and win

It was nice to see a game that wasn't purely defensive. Ross Lyon wouldn't have liked watching this!

The only similarity with State of Origin was having Victoria represented. This was an exhibition game, not a win at all costs. There were few hard tackles and bumps. State of Origin is taken as seriously as any H&A game, this was farcical in that respect. State of Origin must be state vs state to be successful again, none of this friendly exhibition stuff..

They should keep it. It was really good

Surprised they played so seriously, usually these sort of matches are just a bit of fun and players muck around a bit. Entertaining game anyway.

It was for a great cause and also they clearly took inspiration from the recent NBA All Star match which was also played very seriously between Team LeBron and Team Giannis to honor Kobe and Gianna Bryant.

No, that's not the reason why. Its pre season, they need to play at a higher level to maintain their conditioning as the main season is nearly here. They were happy for the cause, but the primary reason was for their own bodies, teams and real season.

A charity match every preseason is a must. A great preseason hit out for the stars. This shows that Vic against all the other states is a good match up. The All Stars represent their individual state. This loss should hurt a little.

Similar to NBA all star game. Flashy offense. No defense. 40 - 34 tackles for the match lol If they do State of Origin properly, which most fans want, would be great to see that class with real intensity around the contest.

@@tommyslatts3202 most people could tell that it was a boring bruise-free shitfest from the first bounce. Perhaps the most boring game I've ever attended. Most of the Marsh Series games were far more intense than this. Real shame that all the kiddies think that this is what good footy looks like

@@Sothpawman You think I'm not aware of that? For your information, I am very well aware that it's for bushfire relief and I think it's fantastic that the AFL has put it together for that. But in regards to the footy as a sport, this is not the Gold Coast; this is Melbourne. Here, a whole lot of us are passionate about football, and whenever there is a representative game there are Victorians who happen to barrack for the Big V whenever they play. I'm one of those supporters, I also happen to barrack for the mighty Pies and I will not hold back if my team wins. That is not having a misplaced ego as you said; that is just me and my love for the game and taking in the fun and jokes about it, something that comments like yours just seek to ruin. I've had a horrible start to the year as many others had, particularly folks in towns such as Mallacoota that had been blanketed over by those bushfires and this game has brought some positivity to this year as; just like others out there, I will try to move on from all the bad things that have happened. So please just stuff right off with your negativity and let a man who loves football show his support for the team he barracks for.

@@itookallthenames yep, it's pretty depressing. It's like, there's so much skill in the game where both sides could easily score above 100, but because of the rules and umps, it's a big deal when we sea a team score over 100... The skill is going forward but everything else is going backward :/

itookallthenames I’ll add that footy’s prime time, imo, was the 80s through to the late 00s. I could’ve seen the red and black win the cup on 2000 but I was unfortunately not interested in the game at that point...
