    A tip for getting laws passed that requires rng and a lot of luck: Generals, Naval Officers, Agitators and Rulers can become the leader of their political parties. If you can find one from the Landowners that doesn't have a terrible personal ideology, you could try and exile the current leader and pray. The more popular a character, the more chance they have of becoming the leader of their party. Generals can get popularity from battles and events while the rest only can get popularity from only events. This is basically the meta strategy for Russia since your heir starts off as a Landowner that is a Market Liberal. While he is the leader, you can get all the industrialization laws and the Landowners will love you for it.

    You might be able to do some peaceful vassalization by forming a 'Sovereign Empire' power bloc, once you're able to. You'll have the ability to turn other members of your power bloc into vassals. Convince them to bow before the Emperor through less violent means!

    Most China runs I do now I rush Romanticism cause it allows you to switch over to Agrarianism immediately, which is absolutely the biggest boost to China's economy early game. No other tech or government change does as much as that single switch due to how much China's economy is just farms of one type or another. Edit: Also, one of the funny things about China is that their Scholar-Officials is one of their best parties at the start. Their Noblesse Oblige gives +20% base increase to Aristocrats' IP contribution... and guess who owns everything at the start of the game? A 40% total is a massive boost to the economy!

    Unless some things have changed, until you get some of the more advanced fertalizers you want to let those subsistence farms provide most of the food and focus more on the things to get you industrializing.

    The ahistorical thing is that truces force you to not declare war, or force you to follow the peace terms for a set period, it was incredibly common to break truces and peace terms (or work around them, using creative understanding of the wording) GB historically would probably just find a way to nullify a truce with Qing and declare another war

    From an economic point of view, military production can be very profitable if the armed forces are happy, cause they give a price boost on military goods that is basically 'money out of thin air'

    Rice farms look more profitable because they produce a lot more than other grain farms. However they also need way more labor and can't use later labor-reducing mechanization methods like tractors. Not a big issue for China overall

    What are corn laws?

  • @davidwright7193

    @davidwright7193

    25 күн бұрын

    The corn laws were a set of tariffs on cereal crops aimed at protecting farmers by setting a minimum price for grain. Essentially what happened was that the UK needed to import grain to feed its urban industrial population but a tariff was placed on imported grain which kept it at an artificially high price. The tax was inversely related to the price of wheat on the UK market. So if wheat was fetching 20’ per ton the tariff would be 30’s per ton, but if the price rose to 30’ per ton the tariff dropped to 20’ per ton. This effectively fixed the price of grain at the shortage prices of the Napoleonic wars even in years with good harvests but prevented vastly excessive price rises after poor harvests. The system was very popular with Tory landowners but very unpopular among urban workers, middle classes, and factory owners. It led to the pressure for reform which led to the 1832 reform act and Chartism. The system collapsed in 1848 under the pressure of the Irish potato famine and the poor European harvests of that year causing the Tories to split into the Peelites and a hardline faction. The peelites merged with the Whigs creating the modern Liberal party, now known as the Liberal Democrat’s following their merger with the SDP in the early 1990’s. That led to the UK adopting a liaise fare economic policy and free trade through to the 1910’s.

  • @davidwright7193

    @davidwright7193

    25 күн бұрын

    @@benjamincorey6259 sets the tariff on grain to import tariffs and creates additional demand for liaise fare , free trade, and increased representation. In the UK you will also get both Peelite and Chartist political parties with the Whigs and Peelite parties merging to create a liberal party that the trade unions will eventually break from to create the Labour Party in late game.
