Very well put together and thorough comparison. I was looking to buy an X-22 and you have given me something to think about in regards to the Victor Titan. Subbed.

The barrel alignment is actually due mostly to the receiver not being truly flat at that barrel mount. The manufacturer posted a thread about it on rimfire central and how to measure to see if yours falls in the out of spec realm. Hope that helps

Great video... i was really looking for something like this when i was considering switching from my X22 to the Titan. Ultimately I did switch to the Titan. I can't say it's a better stock. Both have certain wins over the other. The Titan "feels" more like a full sized rifle than the X22 does. I prefer the grip angle of the X22 when I was just shooting off hand, or out in the field shooting rabbits and prairie dogs. The Titan feels better in the prone position, however. I sold my X22 to get the Titan, but now I wish I had both stocks so I could swap between them, depending on my application. One thing to note, my barrel was really listing to one side when i put the Titan on. I thought for sure the stock was warped, so I reached out to Michael Victor. he was a gentleman and extremely helpful/willing to replace it. He walked me through some troubleshooting steps and helped me realized it was likely just a crappy Ruger receiver. I never noticed it that bad with the X22, but that's probably because it wasn't totally free floated. Anyhow, I was impressed with Michael Victor's quick attention to my problems.

I just ordered the Titan Cheek-piece from Victor. They included everything to install it too, drill bit, screws and bit driver for $29.99. With shipping it was just under $37.00 I'm glad I found this video because I was about to install a Karsten Model B on it and was not too keen about drilling those two large holes in the stock. I like that it looks like it came from the factory instead of after-market add-on. Great video, thank you so much for the information. My Titan stocked Ruger, mounted up with a Leupold VX II 6 x 18 target scope, a Kidd 1 pound trigger, SK Rifle Match ammo, and my Bartlein barrel is a surgeon's scalpel.

My teammate took the Victor Company stock to STC 2017 in Nebraska and he had a great experience with it! I was pleased with the fit and finish as well. Had a friend’s rifle go down and she borrowed a rifle with the Hunter X22 combined with a TacSol barrel and that setup was LIGHT! If I were building for NRL or STC, I would go Victor Company but for rimfire steel challenge or offhand silhouette I would choose the Magpul.

Have the rem 700 in the magpul hunter stock and love it also put my 10 22 in the magpul and there awesome stocks and at a great price. The titan runs about 50 dollars more so that makes up for the attachments. Also like you said the magpul stock is a rigid stock and that why I went with them and there very easy to bed. Great review keep them going thank you and have a great Christmas and New year.

I picked up a X22 dirt cheap when my local gander mountain closed. I really like the fit and the feel of the stock, the standard is too small to be comfortable for me. My primary use is offhand, with fiber optic sights. I do wish it had a quick adjust comb height option to make the transition from optics to open sights easier, as I like to go back and forth between them.

bedding system is what sold me on the titan vs the magpul. both look good though.

I've got 2 10/22's. The Ruger with the factory sporter barrel has the Magpul stock. It is a much improved stock over the original. My Kidd 10/22 is in a Victor Titan. It's amazing with the Kidd rear tang it is an awesome bench/target 22LR.

The Volquartsen 10/22 pillar kit($25 on midway) and some bedding compound fixes the mounting point issue on the x22 stock

The Magul Hunter X 22 is $111 at Bud's and the cheek riser set is another $12.50. The Victor Titan from Brownells is $169 and the cheek riser is another $30. That's a huge difference in price. The Magpul Hunter's cheek riser installation is simple and removable. Once you drill into the Victor you basically no longer have the option of taking it off. Not to mention with it on your resting your cheek next to metal screws. The Magpul Hunter's stock is adjustable length with Mlok all around. The polymer receiver mounting point is more than strong enough to hold a 22lr receiver. Magpul Hunter X 22 is 2.45lbs the Victor Titan is 3.1lbs. The only possible benefit of the Victor Titan is the grip angle and that comes down to preference. With that aside, the Magpul Hunter X is a far superior option.

First things first. A quality well spoken video. Rare on you tube. Next, you made up my mind. I'm putting together an all Kidd 10/22 and I've decided on the Titan. Thank you.

I have two Ruger 10/22 both with Magpul x-22 stocks. I like the adjustable length of pull as I have an ATN X-Sight HD 3-14 night vision scope on it to hunt beavers. The short length of pull is needed for a night vision scope to place your eye directly on the scope. I use the extra high check rest for this huge 3 lb scope. I use the three M-LOK rails for 940 nm infrared torch, flashlight, green laser, bipod, and sling. The gun weights 16 lbs with the required night vision accessory’s. The laser and flashlight are needed when animals approach very close in the dark and you can’t focus on them through the scope at close range.

Great Review There is a custom cut foam cheek pad W/ different thicknesses you can get for these on Eb.

Thoughts on mono-pods that connect to the rear sling point? Those or a bag/sock a better way to go? Thanks, I enjoy the information you put out. I have the Victor....love it...I put a factory action and target bull. I replaced the trigger unit with a Kidd set up with a long mag lever. Wasn't sure if I would like the lever, but do. Mag drops free with mild finger pressure and I don't have to change hand position. I did go with the DNZ one piece 30mm rings and mount. Thinking one piece was better (translates as easier) then dealing with a mount and two rings. The look is nice and clean.

I have been an Anschutz shooter for many years. The grip angle of the Victor is very similar to an Anschutz and that says a lot for the Victor. My friend has installed a Victor to a 10/22 and the results are a 22 that can shoot accurately at 300 yards! You can't knock success. Nice video! Good comparison.

My assumption is that the Bell & Carlson stock you tried earlier is not in the running then? A comparison with the Victor stock would be good. Perhaps B&C can then improve their product...

Great comparision. I went with the Magpul stock for my custom 10/22. However, even with their highest riser, the cheekweld is too low with my Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 and medium rings (the lowest I could find). So, now, I'm exploring options like the Bradley adjustable cheek rest to see if it will work. Clearly the Magpul stock is more oriented to a hunter application than a precision one.

Update. I've ordered a Matthew's Fabrication adjustable riser and will be mounting that to the X-22.

I love the Titan stock. Where did you get the raised cheek piece on the Titan?

Good vid... I agree, I did not care for the magpul X22. I would like to see a comparison vid for a Boyds Varmint 10/22 and a Pro Mag Archangel against the Titan 10/22 stock.

I own the MAGPUL X22. It’s ergonomics are not ideal. However recently I placed a 1-8 Scope on it to compete in steel shooting matches and it has proven to be an enjoyable shooting platform for close range shooting. However for long range shooting the ergonomics don’t work in my favor. Like you mentioned you just can’t rest your hand properly when shooting for long range. So it’s a situational IMO. Love the reviews and I’ll definitely be looking at getting a Victor when I build my Kidd 10/22

Enjoyed the review. I have the x-22 my friend has the titan. I have a lot of the same likes and dislikes you do for accessories. Mot of my usage is offhand hunting and shooting so I do prefer the magpul grip angle. I like the overall adjustability of the x-22 but also wish the cheek risers either came with the stock or came as an all inclusive set. Love the rear tang mounting screw option on the titan. I really enjoy these 22 videos. I do a lot more 22 shooting because of cost as well as my local range only goes to 300 yards so unless I want to drive an hour or more to shoot my high powers, I don't get to stretch their legs much. Nut 300 yards is more than enough to put a 22 to the test.

What is the effective distance of a 10-22?

I hope you see the comment below about the defective Ruger receiver barrel mortises. Victor shouldn't take the hit if it is a Ruger problem. I have an off center receiver mortise and it also was to the left.

For those pressure pad do you want it to keep it tight against the barrel for no wiggle, if you do does it effect the barrel harmonics

The x22 would fit my needs, could pillar bed it , probably not needed. I am not unhappy with the factory laminated stock, varmints and plinking not competition. Great video,

What length barrel is that? I'm on the fence between GM's 20" and 24" bull barrel. Since Kidd and many others don't even offer a 24 do you see any advantage to shoot GM's 24" barrel?

On the magpul you can fix the wiggle on the receiver end by using the jack screw on the pillar or by putting electrical tape where the receiver sits

I have the Titan stock with a KIDD receiver. I opted for the rear tang block that direct bolts to the Kidd and thus creates a rigid anchor to utilize the rear screw as an actual toque-able 2nd action screw. I like the stock from an ergonomic and functionality standpoint better than the X22. It offers a superior design potential to better support the action to enhance accuracy. I say potential because the design is there but it is not refined or optimized. The aluminum bedding block is a great idea but the execution is poorly done in my opinion. The block contact surface is not level, or not parallel, to the action support rails molded down each inner side of the stock, but rather tilted forward when its molded in. When the front receiver flat seats against the the bedding block surface the rear of the action is heaved up by an 1/8". So when you tighten the rear action screw it needs to twist that whole aluminum block inside the stock as it follows the action when its sucked back down by the rear action screw. You'll also notice the bottom edges of the action only contact the support rails at a small portion at the rear and a gap that increases towards the front. That's again part of the bedding block twisting and distorting the stock. This creates a substantial amount of stress that puts uneven pre-load across that action. Any such uneven pre-load WILL adversely effects accuracy and promote flyers! This condition is the exact reason the proven practice of action bedding exists, to achieve a stress free action to enhance accuracy. I had to do a lot of re-adjusting, machining, and then complete re-bedding to correct this. So yes, the Titan is a great concept and good foundation but needs some refinement to achieve its full potential.

Did you hear about PMACA chassis?

I know a guy about to start another 10/22 build that could use that Magpul X22 if you not going to use it. Haha. What is the LOP on the Titan?

Does the archangel not compare? Seems like a very similar stock at the same price point.

How does the weight of the Magpul and the Titan stocks compare to the weight of the Ruger factory wood stock? Also, what type of accuracy improvement can one expect by upgrading to one of these stocks?

I've been shooting my 10/22 for 50+ years and love it just the way it came and never once had an issue with anything. These stocks look bad ass but if it works don't fix it.

I sold an X22 stock to a fellow range member for his 10-22 he's had since 1964. He's 80 years old and loves that rifle, but he has never been perfectly comfortable with it because of the short length of pull the factory stock provides. I'll assure you, he shoots much better now with the Magpul X22 stock and it was a very simple stock change/upgrade. That is his only 22lr he owns, but he uses it in some of our rimfire matches and does quite well with it now. There's a night and day difference in how it performs now vs. before. Its nice to see an old guy enjoying something like its new again. Funny how a simple change will do things like that.

What scope base are you running?

I have the Magpul which I use as is stock. Even though I do use cheek-adjusted centerfire rifles but have not seen the need with .22 Silhouette shooting. After watching this video you do have a bias as the VICTOR is prominently displayed.

Do you recommend leaving the front pressure pad out? I left .I e in, shoots very good, but wonder if fully floated will increase accuracy? Thanx. Kinda late comment.

Really like my Titan but I did have to add epoxy and lead in the buttstock to add some weight.

How about the BOYD AT-ONE Stock. Can u do a review on it I'm thinking of getting one.

I put the AT-ONE on a 10-22 that I use for hunting. In warm weather, I extend the buttstock. In cold weather, with a heavy parka, I shorten the stock. I use a scope and a red dot, both in Leupold QR rings, so I need to adjust the comb height up and down. The BOYD'S AT-ONE stock is absolutely perfect!

I had the Magpul X22 for about a year and really liked it. I was able to try the Victor Company and that one felt a lot better. I purchased the X22 from Brownells so I was able to return it an purchase the Titan stock. What slick are you using?

I should add, the M-loc slot where I had my Atlas bipod cracked. I wasn’t loading it anymore than I do my other rifles. This happened during a local NRL 22 match.

What’s the build specs on this rifle?

I'm surprised you didn't have a Boyd stock to compare them to.

I wish the stock had provision for barrel removal screws in the Kidd Supergrade rifles. I have to take the entire rifle out to change barrels.

I have a question into Michael from Titan about that issue. He's buying a Kidd Supergrade action/barrel to find out what's involved. To be fair though, Tony Kidd beds his action in the Magpul stock and installs his rear locking tang with the Supergrade package. It "should" be really be comparable to any Titan stocked 10-22.

What scope are you running on that?

kids swimming noodle and some horse vet wrap, makes a good cheek weld and you can lengthen the pull if you put it on the butt... IMO, better than dollars and having to permanently alter the stock.

Victor must have heard you. They now sell stock spacers.

I've been really disappointed that two premium makers like Kidd and volquartsen rely so heavily on these two plastic stocks. It's 2020 and I expected better. I don't have a Victor but I have a volquartsen summit and a Remington 700 in the magpul.

I am driving myself nuts deciding between the Titan and the Boyd's At one. Any comparison or chance of a video soo?

I really like the features and form of the titan, but it's heavy. Like, really heavy. It's still my go to stock for a long range .22 lr set up, but IMO, it's not a run and gun because it's not taking advantage of one of the major benefits of a .22 lr for tactical uses, weight.

Have you tried the Promag Archangel?

8541 Tactical It's not bad. Built-in adjustable length of pull and cheek well. Hand grip is in a decent position. Hand hook and flat for a bag. Built in Q.D.. Two position barrel tensioner for tuning harmonics of barrel whip.

The Titan having no LOP adjustment is a no go for me I need a shorter stock and Victors suggestion to cut the stock with a "Hacksaw" on their website is a joke. The Magpul hunter is a Hunting stock so it works well for that purpose and ended up being my choice.

I just returned the Magpul X 22 stock. I had the slot with the front rail crack and rail fall off while loading the bipod. I moved the rail to the next slot back finished the NRL 22 match and when I got home boxed up the stock and returned it to Brownells. Now I still have a FDE cheek riser, M-loc rail and M-Loc QD attachment point. I’m ordering another Titan stock when I get my refund from Brownells.

Were you loading a bipod into a bolt on M-Lok rail on polymer furniture? What did you expect?!

If you're a target queen the titan is fine. If you want something that looks badass and gives you a WAY better grip the Magpul is the way to go.

Victor Company is located in CA, so I would assume that it is. However, I long since stopped trying to interpret CA firearms laws. I am sure Victor Company could answer your question.

Magpul X22 by far the best for my money

Magpull X22 is not in the same universe as the Titan. I have a Titan. The huge difference is the two contact points for the action. Magpul only has a single action screw. You don't need their comb riser. Just buy some 1/4" closed cell adhesive pads from Amazon. BTW your scope is mounted way too high. My Athlon scope has a 50mm objective. Clears the barrel by 1/16".

I JUST upgraded my factory stock to a Magpul Hunter X-22, here are my thoughts. While I had to Frankenstein my factory stock to make it fit me (very tall) with after-market cheek risers and even an old sock rolled and duct-taped to the butt pad to adjust the LOP, once I was done, it fit me like an old slipper! My eye was spot-on every time I dropped my head. The Magpul stock IS very tacti-cool but it still has problems. Going down the list starting at the butt end and moving forward; the adjustable pieces for the length-of-pull work, though they do feel very plasticky and a bit cheap to be honest. I liked very much that there were some metal inserts for the stock screws to thread into at the back end, which makes me wonder, why the hell didn't they put one on THE MOST IMPORTANT screw of the entire system? -The ACTION screw!!! I mean really? Why are we still fucking around with this in 2022? Gun manufacturers used to make better guns in the 50's and 60's than they do now a lot of times! ONE metal bushing to seat the action screw, get with it Magpul! Anyway, going back to the cheek pieces, I DID order the highest comb height available, but it doesn't feel right compared to my cheap Amazon velcro-on padded cheek piece. Maybe it's because I'm used to my jury-rigged solution, but has anyone thought of, I dunno, testing these things before they start mass-producing them? Guess I'll be modifying this too when I put my finger on what's bothering me about it. Moving on, the fact there are no pre-installed QD flush cups is a bit silly, but I would have been alright with it if Magpul had at least provided a tool to hold the QD cup screw-in nut that comes with the flush cup (which is sold separately); when you remove the cap that closes the hole for the flush cup, the stock is hollow and the hole is too small to hold the washer in place with your fingers or even a normal pair of needle-nose pliers. I later found out there is such a tool but again, Magpul sells it separately but doesn't tell you you SHOULD get it to install QD cups on this stock. If they'd been smart about it, they would have integrated that hex shape into the plastic covering cup so that you could use the cup to hold the hex nut in place as you thread the screw from the other side and then simply push the cover back into place to hide the hex nut and the hollow stock. It wouldn't have cost any more to produce a cap with a hex shape in it. They just didn't bother thinking this through. Which brings me to my next gripe; the lock-tite on the screws for anything Magpul sells. How the hell are you supposed to install anything if the screw needs significant force to thread-in to the nut or the M-Lock mounts? It's physically impossible to hold the nut with your fingers enough to get the screw past the lock-tite on the tip while it is recessed into the stock. Maybe Houdini could've done it, but I can't and I'm a fairly resourceful guy on average. I was finally able to get it going by holding the side of the hex nut in place with a flat head screw driver, but it's a tight squeeze in that QD recess and it could have been designed better or a tool should have been provided with the stock or at the very least, it should have been mentioned SOMEWHERE that said tool would make your life much easier (like TandemKross did for the 10-22 mags) because they made it harder on purpose! Same problem with the front M-Lock screws, only this time it's even worse because you can't even see what you're doing because the barrel channel tray won't go in if you already have an M-Lock mounted on the front end! And it's not even that it would be a pain in the ass to remove the tray and screwing-in the M-Lock and then replace the tray. It's that you can't return the tray AFTER you put in an M-Lock because the two screws are in the way and prevent the tray from being returned!I mean, who designs these things, because after less than an hour, I could have told their head designer all the problems it has. I expect everything to be sold separately these days, it's like car dealers making their money repairing the same car they sold you and making more on parts and labor than on selling you a new car! I expect that these days, but can you at least tell people what they need? If I can figure out what I need to put on my shopping list from home, I can decide if or when I order from them, and even if I go with a different stock, having that transparency would have gone a long way in securing my respect for their business philosophy. Despite all of that, I still think it is a good stock for the price and it's the kind of stock Ruger should upgrade to I just wish someone would have put in more than 5 minute's thought into designing it.
