Vic's Gong Clinic #1 - Sounds & Techniques

Highlights from the first of 2 Gong Clinics recorded at Vic's drum Shop in Chicago, IL, as part of PAISTE Day, November 30, 2013. I talk about Paiste Gongs and demonstrate various mallets, implements, and extended techniques. I also play 2 of my compositions, 'Underworld,' and 'Schättenwelt.' (High quality speakers and/or headphones recommended)

LOL, just saw your other gong video, and said, if you're thinking of spending maybe thousands of dollars DON'T just buy one online without seeing it! I suggested Vic's, because they have every damn thing in the store.

Really nice video. Thank you. I'm also a sound enthusiastic. I love gongs for all the frequency combinations that it's possible to make and ear. I have a 30cm gong but now I was looking for a bigger one. Around 30" or 32" gong. I love the sound of flumies and want to ask you what are the main differences between the earth gong and others, like a normal symphonic gong? Thanks in advance

Great vid, thanks, hey , you mentioned a "zero impact mallet" and played with it for a minute, curious I have searched for such under that name and can't find anything, is there a different name for that? Brand/ Manuf. ?

Thank you for such nice class. So clarifying. One question: what are your thoughts on the wuhan tan gongs? the seem to be a lot more affordable.

Nice clinic! Only wish your voice was louder . . . I was trying to listen early in the morning and with the volume up to hear your voice . . . suddenly the sound of the title inserts or your performance would come booming/crashing in and I was worried I would wake someone up! ;-)
