    Thx mate was a great day out exploring some new tracks! The hail was nuts. That ridgeline was so narrow though very cool.

    Tree was there in mid March when my brother and I did this track, weather had been good ( no rain) so we did Wild Horse Gap track, not for the inexperienced and definitely not after rain but a fabulous challenge,hope you get a chance to try it

    Thanks for the heads up, its definitely on the list, a few people have recommended it. Been a while since I've done lake cobbler track so might have to come in that way and take wild horse gap down to pineapple flat and camp there.

    Lake William Hovel area is always nice to explore, haven't been over there since 2018, due to do a club trip in November, can't wait and also to check out the wineries too and a visit is not complete without a pot at the Whity pub!

    I do recall seeing a large fallen tree of that size when I did it early June. But they may have graded the cut around track. I’ll have to check my footage and get back to u. But yes definitely it has been graded after watching your vid and comparing to my trip a month ago. Love that bluff section and the drive down from there.

    Yeah that was absolutely mint. You never know what your going to find driving new tracks. Sounds like even parks looked and that tree and said, "yeah nah, that can stay". It's pretty big. I'll be interested to see the rest of Burnt Top as we turned onto Stockyard.

    @@OffTheBeatenPathAus yeah we heard it’s pretty messed up and as we were on our way out heading back to Melbourne we had no plans to start any harder tracks. As we always say ,”there is always next time”. I’ll check out my footage in the next few days and see if the GoPro was on and if that tree is still there. 👍🏻

    Cracking spot at the end there mate, beautiful spot for a swim, picnic etc. Looks like some fun driving through there but those B Line's mate, Easy to see. Must just be that Landcrusier owner mentality wanting to get in and play in the mud lmfao. I like the way Lucca was driving too, the way he seemed to straddle the ruts and bog holes rather than straight through the guts. Same thing I try to do.

  • @OffTheBeatenPathAus

    @OffTheBeatenPathAus

    Yeah he runs proper MT's so has decent grip, at this point was still running the road terrains in the crusier so straddling was often problematic. He always finds the B lines, I just didn't see them this trip... clearly not looking hard enough :-)

    @@OffTheBeatenPathAus decent tyres sure do help. Honestly though I've been very happy with my ATs on the Paj. Maybe nit as good as MTs in slippery stuff but generally really good, low road noise, plenty of traction on and off road. Much better than the Highways I had on the back originally.

    Great drive, beaut tracks Jase. I bet you were praying the hail didn't get too big, I would have been. I had a mate that was up the goldy who got stuck in a big one, so bad, his troopy was written off unfortunately (sorry for the sad tale Krusty, I know how ya love em). There's always the thought in the back of your head when it pours rain...........do I go on, or turn back? It depends on how far you've gone I suppose, and your knowledge of the track. Enjoyed your adventure mate, looking forward to the next one. Cheers, BobbyB.

    I'm a subscriber love your content l have a pajero I'm thinking of doing what you did get a 76 not to keen on manual though also I'm worried about the cabin it seems a lot smaller than the pajero what do you think

  • @OffTheBeatenPathAus

    @OffTheBeatenPathAus

    17 күн бұрын

    Hey Mark, these days you've got the option of the 2.8 with auto for the 70 series, so if you're not keen on a manual you can go that way. The feeling of driving the 70 series is completely different, it's a much more upright seating postion, you 'feel' a lot higher and for me the cabin feels bigger. Dimensionally they're very similar, but where you sit is different. I'm a pretty big guy and have plenty of room in the 70 series cabin so I wouldn't be concerned about it. Very different vehicle to drive, probably even in the newer specs but a lot of fun. The body on chassis design means the body sits naturally higher as do a lot of the drive train components. If you're wanting to do tougher tracks, have the option for loading the vehicle up a bit more (GVM upgrades), have options to increase power and the drive train then the 70 is the way to go. Just know it'll be noiser, not as comfortable/easy to drive as the paj as you're making some sacrifices in on road manners. For me was worth it.

    I like your channel, but watching that winching out the bog hole. Your mate was waayy too close to the winch line, he looked like he was go to even grab it while it was under load. Keep up the good work but take care out there, a winch cable snapping is not something you want to be standing next to.

  • @OffTheBeatenPathAus

    Thanks David appreciate the feedback, he was clear of the danger area. The camera angle makes it look a lot closer than he was as the camera is on the upper left of the car. Good point though for sure, safety is always important around winches especially under load.

    its geese like you guys is the reason they gate off tracks-- as your making the access impossible--- when we need fire trucks in there the road is 4wdrived to death, you just keep destroying the tracks--- why go in there in that weather dopes

    Going to have to disagree with you there. We weren't destroying the tracks, there was a bit of rain that's it and as for the bypass tracks that were cut in we drove them but didn't cut them in.
