If you want insane sub bass, you need a fan where the music signal can change the angle of the blades. The fan rotates at a constant speed, and the the audio signal is stuff below 30Hz or so. The fan must be enclosed in a huge e.g. wooden enclosure (like, sofa sized or something ). Alas I can't find the project pages anymore, of someone who built this. But sub bass from movies makes you body shake there, supposedly. ( _if_ the soundtrack does have subbass & it's not filtered out)

A speaker IS a perm magnet motor after all... it just pulls rather than spins, but you don't even need an amp, you can hook a headphone wire right to a small dc motor and get cheap inductive headphones, if you want to walk around with a dc motor taped to your head

If you really want to shake your room like an earthquake, get a decent motor, preferably largest that will run off your home's power. On the end of the shaft, weld on a piece of steel to make it off balance. This is essentially how a vibrator in a phone works, only much more powerful. Bolt the motor to the floor. The more secure the better. When you turn it on, your whole house will shake. This is a good way to deal with neighbors that blast music at 2AM as well!

When I was about 14 back in the 1970s I took the wires from a set of ear plugs and put attached them to a small DC motor. I discovered I could play music through it when I connected it to my transistor radio. Then I hooked it up to the ear plug jack on my 12 inch black and white TV. I could hear the TV through it, for about five minutes until it destroyed something in the TV and I had no sound at all. I was heartbroken. I used to love watching my little TV.

The more a device turns electric energy into sustained momentum the less suitable it is for your purposes. Anything that can resonate at the frequencies you want to play is more appropriate. Things like hard drives have been known to have been applied as musical instruments for example.

In fact, iron does have windings, but it is not a copper coil like the ones found in motors, but it is a coil made of some metals or metallic alloys, such as nichrome, steel or tungsten, which is focused on generating heat and not a magnetic field, itas heating element, but in any case it ends up generating a magnetic field, anyone who has an electric stove knows that you can hear the socket frequency 50 or 60hz depending on where you live, when you turn on the stove you can hear the humming noise. This type of heating element used in irons is called a shielded heating element, they look like a metallic tube but inside the tube there is ceramic and in the middle of the ceramic there is a small winding similar to a resistor made of some type of metal like tungsten, in fact a heating element is nothing more than a big resistor lol.

I've done the same type of experiments. I connected a hobby motor to a wooden chopstick and bit down on it to hear the vibration through my teeth. Or put it under a pillow for a quiet speaker only I can hear. I also found the resonant frequencies of different items to vibrate them across a table. Rippling water is fun too. To get super bass you need a big amp or what I did was wedge a broomstick up against a wall and hit it at a particular frequency so it would vibrate like a sting. Ended up shaking my garage roof like I was in a windstorm.

If I remember correctly, motors will have voltage spikes that goes back into the circuit when turned on, whereas speakers does not have that effect, at least not to that scale. So I think because it's a sound amplifier instead of a motor driver it did not have the proper protection circuitry which is what blew it up. I am not an electrical engineer but that would be my guess

2:38 this was a byproduct of 60 Hz tube type lightbulbs with ballast at my school, I always heard the sound beyond high pitch that sounded like water with sand being shot through an amplified metal tube with a corner inside of it, and instead of hearing it with my ears, it made it sound like it was coming with my head Everybody else was used to it, but I did not desensitize that easy it gave me headaches. I wonder if it’s unintentional or even controllable in that building being a public school as well it might as well have been brainwashing.
