This proves fractal is literally the absolute best modeler ever

Love the comparison videos Paul. I especially appreciate how you share what parameters you’ve tweaked in Fractaland to get them sounding closer. Do you have access to enough amps to make a series? If you weren’t on another continent I’d be happy to lend one for more content. As a gigging musician I’m more concerned with live sound at higher volumes than recording levels. It would be very difficult to discern the ‘real’ amp from this Fractal preset in a live context. Especially once FOH gets done playing with your tone to get you sitting in the mix. Cheers!

thanks 🙏they're fun to do as well actually, with the parallel looper/fm3+amp with the loadbox all setup it makes tweaking between the two much easier, and fortunately the fractal also has all sorts of amp specific parameters to get even closer (like in this instance with the Input EQ) as i'm using the FM3 i don't have the Tone Match block, which would make things even easier i guess, but it makes the tweaking all the more satisfying i unfortunately sold a lot of my tube amp heads in the last 3-4 years (a mid 70s Hiwatt custom 100, an 80s JCM800, Vox AC15HW..) and have just got an AC10 now and the VHT for real tube amps , that don't get enough use if i'm being honest would love to do more of these, i've got friends here with some cool tube amps, i'll have a closer look, i think some of the lesser known amps/comparisons with fractal models would be really interesting for sure, (e.g Dr Z , Morgan) but also other amps of course, i'll have a look agree on the live sound aspect, it's incredible how close we can get to recorded tones with modelling these days

@@paulbradshawguitar Like you I’ve sold some tube amps too. I just let go of a Diezel D-moll to fund an FM9. I have access to tone match with my AFX3, but can’t find the time to get into it. I’d love to tone match my Rev G Triple Rectifier I purchased new back in the 90s. As for live gigging, we played on Saturday and had a few guys tripping over my guitar tone. They couldn’t believe what was coming out of the PA was coming from the FM9. Of course I only hear what’s in my IEMs, so it’s good to hear some confirmation from others.

@@Team512 ah nice, i used to own an Einstein way back when, cool amp, the d-moll i think improved on the concept, separated channels etc.. that confirmation from the audience is always so good to hear or even seeing random Instagram stories/reels from people recording in the audience, we also play with IEMs, so our monitoring always sounds good, but you never really know how it sounds out front the FM3 has definitely saved me on potential back issues 😄 almost forgotten how much amps+cabs weigh what's the name of the band?

Hauling heavy gear is a thing of the past for me too. And set up/break down is a breeze. I find that selecting IRs is my biggest challenge. I can’t rest when it comes to tone. Always think there’s something better around the corner. My days of playing and writing original music are sadly behind me at this point. But I still gig several times a month with a damn good party rock cover band.

@@Team512 can totally relate, the IR Pandora's box feels like a black hole 😄 I've been enjoying making my own cab mixes using Cabinetron IR loader from within the DAW, which makes things easy (auto phase align is a godsend) i record some parts with raw amp tone from the FM3 with no cab loaded, and then audition and mix stuff within the DAW before exporting the finished result as a cab back into the FM3 but i still wonder if i can make a better mix, or find better IR(s) for that maybe 5% improvement, it feels like a sickness 😄

Hol' up a second. Fractal lets you edit the impedance curve of the speaker? That's it, I'm getting one before I die 😆

and much more 😄 but yeah the speaker impedance curve setting in the amp block is pretty huge, i'll do a video on that at some point

i tweaked things from the initial settings later on in the video, the initial fm3 tone did sound a bit dark compared to the amp
