VFX this Dumb Shouldn't Work this Well
Фильм және анимация
VFX this Dumb Shouldn't Work this Well. Today I'm using some pretty bad footage and basic 3D models / Animation to create a massive Star wars: The Old Republic inspired Scene. I grew up watching the old SWTOR cinematics and they have inspired me a lot.
I used Blender and Hitfilm Pro to create my VFX.

Dumb VFX are my favorite, some of the shots that have made me go "this is so stupid there's no way this will actually look good" end up being my favorites. Sometimes it's just fun to see what we can get away with.
This is more hype than I've felt for Star Wars in like 10 years.
That 'twisting the light' trick to turn on a saber is absolutely genius.
Dumb VFX are best VFX 👌And that relighting is delicious omfg Btw you don't have to re-render everything in EEVEE to get the glow, you can just add a glare node in the compositor. And ofc you can still choose to subtract everything else from the glow layer and render it out in a separate file if you want the flexibility in post.
You missed one vertex when you made the lightsaber tip and I can't unsee it 😄

the number of verts and the missed one made my toes curl as a blender veteran lmao

Yeh, I noticed I thought it was kind of funny too how the origin of the light saber was moved to the base.

omg, WHY!?!?!, Also couldn't you just poke the face and move the vert?

I knew that the empty was behind everything! 10:10
Great tutorial bro. I think u can also enable bloom in the realtime compositor for cycles while in the viewport
Inspiring. Hollywood would be able to make much better movies, when they were being more inventive and economic with their VFX and instead put more money into good stories. Also I love, when people use the tools at hand and get the absolute best out of them while at the same time cutting the work to the absolute necessary minimum.
That beginning was awesome! You continue to inspire me with every video!
Another excellent video. For your close-up (with the 'orange' light -- I wonder how a sharper light with more contrast in the shadow would have looked). Love your style and love these breakdowns of short scenes. Thanks for the effort that goes into making these.
Loving your content, dude. Keep it going.
Good video, also in my opinion you should use constraints or there an addon called dynamic parent which is perfect when it becomes to parenting objects.
Insane! Going to use some of these techniques in my teaser!
Love your content! Maybe some greater chalange next time? What about fighting with CGI characters? I am just asking, because you content is really good, and I would like to create such a thing myself...

Thanks for the feedback! I am definitely interested in elevating my effects in the near future :)
Good job man this is really cool
Looks amazing!!
Great video my only complaint is that you skipped the most impactful thing. Sound design. How did you make your fidel sound so good.
Maan that Switchlight Studio is sooo Awesome🔥

Good work man.
love it
Are you creating it as we're seeing it, or do you, make it first, so when you show the final piece, and then go back and redo it for the camera?
Amazing bro, next time try relight davinci fx, u can composite and make vfx there 🙂🙌🏻
This is where the Fun begins!
💥💥🔥
Get a Blackmagic 6k full frame. I believe ur footage will match the backgrounds better
how much time does it take u to render this things man
This guy is so cool
Same as most Star wars shit nowadays; most of your work got completely lost because everything is sooooo dark you can barely see anything on screen.
full movie when?
