VFR 750 RC36 sundown cruise / raw V4 sound

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Relaxed evening ride with some practicing. Note that I didnt know this road before so I was even slower than usual.
Modified stock muffler, bike is RC36/1 1993 swiss model. Video recorded on gopro3+, audio on iphone7.
Disclaimer: I usually ride below speedlimits and try to develop technique before speed. I know I should ride in full gear. Please always ride in proper gear.

It does.. its such a shame Honda discontinued it. I think this 90degree V4 with the 180deg crank is the best of them all regarding sound.

Always happy to motivate others 😁 but if that is your first bike be careful, and prepare for dropping it 1-2 times. Heavy as all hell and high speeds feel “safe” on it because of how stable it is.

I think apart from the rectifier (which will almost definitely die at some point), it is kind of bulletproof. Clutches tend to rattle at idle, especially when cold, but many times it is not a problem. If you install a voltage meter to monitor charging and change the oil this engine should work basically forever.

The problem with rectifiers in this bike is not the rectifier itself. The problem is that honda engineers put It in the wrong place where the fresh air can't cool It. If you put your rectifier in a better place, It will last almost forever.

Well this one also disengages at the very start, but I think thats how it should be with hydraulics. Isnt it just too far away for her hand? You can adjust the stock lever closer, but it will still disengage at the very start of the pull.

  • @lunytoonz3466

Exactly that its too far away, she has to open up her hand almost whole to reach the part where its 10% from full release.

  • @Stahlkatze

Thanks mate :-D Scrapped all the factory interior. It has a large straight perforated tube with metal fiber packing around it like a normal race exhaust, and an additional large baffle at the start. This way it generates some backpressure to have a stable idle and also it is much more quiet than a fully open system while still having enough bass in it :-D I think having the dB killer at the end of the muffler like in normal sport exhausts results in effective sound suppression but also it kills all the lower frequencies that are needed for a nice deep tone.

@@Stahlkatze It is hard to jugde just by seeing the video, but I get the impression that the accelleration is not as hard as with my bone stock 1991 RC36/1 with 54.oookm on the odo. Maybe the jetting needs to be adjusted according to the modified exhaust? Anyways...sound ist awesome and Hungary / Budapest is a magnificent place to be ( I work for a company that has an office in Budapest that I sometimes visit), especially because you don´t get stabbed by uninvited people unlike here in Germany. Enjoy your Honda as long as possible:) All the best Tobias

Well I didnt pull full throttle in this one (and rarely do anyway, like to cruise more), butit could be weaker. This is a swiss model which had 47kW stock, but it was derestricted before I bought it. The intake boots were replaced to full diameter ones, and based on spark plug color the jetting was adjusted as well. Ignition however seems to be the swiss one with the revlimit down at 11500. If the ignition advance curve is also different, then it is likely the bike still lacks a bit of power, but certainly not much, it pulls pretty hard from 6k on😅 Anyway I wanted to first build some technique and then speed, but if my speed never gets too high Im still fine with that 😁

  • @Stahlkatze

There was no full throttle here. It is possible the bike lacks power, either not having been fully derestricted, or being worn out. I sometimes try full power for fun but in this video I was practicing cornering so it was not the point.
