VEX Robotics Change Up Rules Explanation and Strategies
Ғылым және технология
It's finally here! The long drought of no new VEX content is officially done. Here are my thoughts about the new game, an explanation of the rules, and some thoughts about potential strategies.

You got the win point in autonomous misunderstood. It is not just another point in the match, I’m not the best at explaining it, if someone else could, but I’ll try. Getting a row in autonomous gives you a win point. Win points will help with rankings. Winning a match will give 2 win points. Hope this helps.

axl2004 basically a win point is an extra win for your record(wins, losses,and ties)

Mateo Heitner not quite. 1 win is 2 win points. 1 win point is a tie

It’s not a match win point, it’s an AP (autonomous point in addition to the bonus)

Andrew Lay I will get the specific rule, but it is a win point if you top all three alliance towers in autonomous

If you look under tournoment definitions, there is the definition of the autonomous win point. It will count to help ranking. It does not count for wins, losses, ties. It is the secondary ranking meathod if someone is tied.
1:17 You're mistaken, you own the goal if the top-most scored ball is your color

I miss turning point best game ever
My team won't even be able to build over summer and I was also thinking if school is cancelled all year for some places they won't be able to compete

THE NERD HOUSE Same here. I’m dying to give Vex another shot after losing two times in Vex IQ
To me the game was more underwhelming then the last four games but the new VEX robotics parts look pretty fun to play around with. And it looks like coding autonomous could be easier with the new GPS system.

Ty Youlden pretty sure the GPS system is only for the ai game, hopefully the vision system can be used in regular VRC

Yeah that is also what I was thinking to but it would be cool to make autonomous with it.
Thank you for the video. I am trying very hard to decipher how score points are tallied up, especially at the end of the Autonomous period. Since there are many balls loaded in the goals for initial setup, do teams get score points for all balls of their color in goals, regardless if they were actually placed in them? Is this true in both the autonomous period and the driver control period?
From looking at the manual I don't see anything about touching the wall when you start, only that you have to be touching your home row. Did I miss something in the manual that says you have to start touching the wall?

You've probably figured it out by now, but that is correct. I did a bunch of searching and ctrl+f and the only requirement is to be in the home zone.
nice!
Hi kepler Electronics. We are starting a VRC team and cannot choose on which kit to buy. We did Vex IQ last year and have a lot of experience building. We narrowed it down to the competition super kit or the competition starter kit with some add ons like sprocket kits and gears and extra hardware. Which one would you recommend?

super kit, but be ready to buy extra 1x2 c channel, stand offs, and so on.
Am i able to keep those three balls? it says i cant have greater than momentary possession of more than 3 opposing balls, but if i have less or equal to 3, can i just hold them?
@KeplerElectronics

That’s what I’m understanding. Less than 3 is ok. I’m assuming because you can be intaking balls from a goal and get some from the other team

If you read the rules, you can hold 3 forever. You can also be in momentary possession of a 4th (different judges will interpret time differently so watch out). The important thing to note is that if you DO have more than 3, you CANNOT take any other action other than getting rid of the extra. No driving, scoring, descoring, etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong, you can hold up to three of the opponents balls for the whole match?

wow, a video already?
I’m a bit confused on the autonomous line. During autonomous, can we get any of the balls on the autonomous line or no?

Sorry for the late response, but yes, so long as you aren’t touching the other side ._.
Sometimes, I dream, about cheese
You should do a new one of these for Over Under
Will we even have robotics at high schools now???
Do you have any courses online for new Vex teams?

There’s a playlist on the channel of all of my beginner videos, so I’d start there. After that, there’s the reveal video playlist which goes more in depth on a few more rare subsystems (brake, flywheel, etc) and more full bot construction. That’s where I’d start.
Can someone answer this please? So say for example my team scored the bottom two balls on a tower but the other team got the top ball. That means that they own the tower, however my question is, does the other team get 3 points cause my scored balls go to them or do I get 2 points and they get 1 point plus the ability to multiply their score with other towers?
@zenitsu2744

Yeah the second one, you don't have to own a tower to get points from it. What's up dude XD

From my reading, I’m still only seeing talk about the opposing alliance. It says six in reference to hoarding the opposing team’s balls.

How?
Another tray bot game
It's 5.3 inches not 6.3 inches
I don’t like this game at all. It’s very annoying how VEX always gives claw bots and bad players a chance to win against the better robot designs. The bottom of the containers shouldn’t be open so that rounds are more skill and speed based compared to back and forth gameplay. There is also not much option for what to do (balls and flags, cubes in towers, etc...)

They are a business and are trying to apeal to audience of all skills so that is why they made this year easier and made the AI mode for the more experienced teams, but I agree with you.

This is a very close-minded approach to what vex is about, and the only limit you're imposing is on yourself. If it were so easy then go ahead and win worlds.
@austindelacruz5872
4 жыл бұрын
That really isn't true at all. There's no way a clawbot/bad player would be able to beat a well designed robot or good driver. If they do then that means that either your driving wasn't that good or your robot wasn't designed that well. Vex is only giving an opportunity for new teams to compete as they will most likely only know how to build a clawbot. It's just good game design to be friendly to new players. This doesn't give them any advantage over more experienced players or more complex desgins.
This game seems pretty boring like tower takeover
