VetsOnCall - Dr. Kiehne cares for newborn piglets
Minnesota veterinarian Dr. Ross Kiehne specializes in caring for pig herds and training pig farmers on caring for their animals. Dr. Kiehne explains the design of the farrowing barn where mom sows live for about three weeks while delivering and nursing their piglets, protected from the elements and from territorial barn-mates. The pens are designed so the piglets are also kept comfortable and well-protected. Dr. Kiehne demonstrates how he treats animals that get sick and explains the withdrawal process in place to ensure animal medicines do not enter the food chain.

i love animals and those little piggys are cuties
everyone, your dollar is your vote for the world you want to see - don't like this? don't buy pig products. This is the reality of food production - it doesn't make sense to do it any other way because of the human population, which is continuing to grow. How else would you make pork products readily available to consumers? Because the demand is there, the supply will be too. Farmers, both crop and livestock, are doing the hard work that it takes to keep this country fed. Pigs are cute, they really are I love their floppy ears, but they're still a source of reasonably priced protein. Personally I'm proud to see vets caring about individual animals - improving their quality of life as much as they can, while still being practical.
awww how could you eat something that cute :(
I like bacon.
promoting the cruelty of animals is immoral. i am disgusted by all of this, pfizer.
I'd be ashamed to be a food production vet especially in this factory farm.
