Veterans Stadium Implosion (March 21, 2004) | NBC10 Philadelphia

Veterans Stadium holds pantheonic status in Philadelphia sports history. It was home to the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles from April 1971 to September 2003. Inside the 70,000-plus-seat multipurpose stadium, the Phillies won the World Series, Eagles fans endured heartbreak, fans threw snowballs at Santa Claus and there were brawls in the infamous 700 level.
The stadium was imploded on March 21, 2004. Here's many views of the implosion.

Temple University used The Vet for all of our home football games. I loved being in the Diamond Marching Band. Every year we also performed a halftime show at an Eagles game there...and we performed a pre-game at the 1983 World Series (I still have the tattered newspaper photo taken of our band in formation from the Goodyear Blimp!) Great memories.

1971 to 2004. Any stadium should last at least 50 years

But Phila., Penna.'s former Veterans Stadium 🏟 didn't last that long. It lasted for just 3 decades+ before it was demolished by implosion in March, 2004, just before Phils were to have started their inaugural season, baseball ⚾️ play in new Citizens Bank Ballpark, next door

Now I.M.O., there could've been face-lift for Phila., Penna.'s former Veterans Stadium 🏟 w/original outfield portion, stands being demolished/being replaced by new bleachers in outfield, along w/new game-in-progress scoreboard in dead CF

Eagles fans booed Santa at Franklin Field (which still stands) in 1968 not Shibe Park. Eagles stopped playing at Shibe/Connie Mack in the 50's.
